Book Usa One Nation Under God

Download or read book Usa One Nation Under God written by Jose Carlos Diaz and published by LibrosEnRed. This book was released on 2007-09 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S.A claims to be "one nation under God." If that God is the Christian God this statement is false. The author of this book sets out to prove this thesis with the analysis of over a dozen U.S. war events spanning over a century. The U.S.A. is now the only world superpower. How did it get there? By walking down the path marked by "Manifest Destiny." With the arrival of the Mayflower, the English Puritans believed that God preordained them to spread their eternal values throughout the world. This presumptuous goal eventually became the U.S. expansionist policy, the basis for its political and economical conquest of the world. Uncle Sam, disguised with a false philanthropy, became the Northern Colossus. He is shouting that the country where he lives is "one nation under God," however, it really is against God. Repent, USA! This book is demonstrating this hypocrisy through an examination of U.S. military interventions around the world, starting with the explosion of the "Maine" in 1898 and ending with the Operation "Iraqi Freedom" in 2003.

Book Unmitigated Disaster

Download or read book Unmitigated Disaster written by Louis D. Cruz and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-10-12 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A story of America is moving forward. And, NOW that word forward happens to be the slogan of the very man; that, Republican Willard Mitt Romney is trying to unseat. America the Party of NO has a man who will insist to see your ID, Birth Certifi cate, but wont release his Tax Returns, at the least 5-6 of them, so the voting electorate will know how to trust him. There are many perfectly legal ways for all weasels to get out of paying taxes. Especially, if you can afford armies of creative accountants to find them all. In our own Countrys Congressional Leaders there is: Nothing but, shameless lies and dishonor! That explains whats going on here. If election in November is to be decided on the several issues, Robme (the Romney) and (Ryan, the Lying) along with the remaining hostile Republicans should stay away from foreign policy this next four years. Even drifting into that realm risks reminding voters of Obamas clear advantage in leadership. America, Bush has been out of offi ce for almost 4 years, are YOU really going to continue to blame him? This is what the Republicans are saying! Honestly, if thats were the blame lies, absolutely! It wouldnt matter; even if, its been 100, 200, or 300 years since George W. the Idiot Bush has been out of office, there will STILL remain too many unanswered questions!

Book excerpt: The provocative and authoritative history of the origins of Christian America in the New Deal era We're often told that the United States is, was, and always has been a Christian nation. But in One Nation Under God, historian Kevin M. Kruse reveals that the belief that America is fundamentally and formally Christian originated in the 1930s. To fight the "slavery" of FDR's New Deal, businessmen enlisted religious activists in a campaign for "freedom under God" that culminated in the election of their ally Dwight Eisenhower in 1952. The new president revolutionized the role of religion in American politics. He inaugurated new traditions like the National Prayer Breakfast, as Congress added the phrase "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance and made "In God We Trust" the country's first official motto. Church membership soon soared to an all-time high of 69 percent. Americans across the religious and political spectrum agreed that their country was "one nation under God." Provocative and authoritative, One Nation Under God reveals how an unholy alliance of money, religion, and politics created a false origin story that continues to define and divide American politics to this day.

  • Publisher : Princeton University Press

Download or read book Democracy and Tradition written by Jeffrey Stout and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2009-02-09 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do religious arguments have a public role in the post-9/11 world? Can we hold democracy together despite fractures over moral issues? Are there moral limits on the struggle against terror? Asking how the citizens of modern democracy can reason with one another, this book carves out a controversial position between those who view religious voices as an anathema to democracy and those who believe democratic society is a moral wasteland because such voices are not heard. Drawing inspiration from Whitman, Dewey, and Ellison, Jeffrey Stout sketches the proper role of religious discourse in a democracy. He discusses the fate of virtue, the legacy of racism, the moral issues implicated in the war on terrorism, and the objectivity of ethical norms. Against those who see no place for religious reasoning in the democratic arena, Stout champions a space for religious voices. But against increasingly vocal antiliberal thinkers, he argues that modern democracy can provide a moral vision and has made possible such moral achievements as civil rights precisely because it allows a multitude of claims to be heard. Stout's distinctive pragmatism reconfigures the disputed area where religious thought, political theory, and philosophy meet. Charting a path beyond the current impasse between secular liberalism and the new traditionalism, Democracy and Tradition asks whether we have the moral strength to continue as a democratic people as it invigorates us to retrieve our democratic virtues from very real threats to their practice.
