Download or read book The National Toxicology Program s Chemical Database written by Lawrence H. Keith and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1991-12-31 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This database provides a vast amount of information about potentially toxic chemicals to regulatory and research agencies, consultants, academics, and libraries. The National Toxicology Program's Chemical Database consists of eight volumes containing 50 fields that present detailed information on 2,270 different chemicals. The data is obtained from the literature or experimentally determined. Each compound is listed in every volume even when there is no information available for it in some volumes. Information in the NTP database was gathered and updated as compounds were used throughout a 12 year period from 1979 to 1991. Throughout the eight volumes, the primary chemical name and the Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Number (CAS No.) remain constant and all 2,270 chemicals are listed alphabetically in each volume. The NTP database can be sold as a set or individually. Each volume consists of one 3-1/2" and two 5-1/4" diskettes , in addition to a 64 page manual that describes how to use the software. Diskettes will run on IBM® or IBM-compatible equipment with DOS 2.0 and higher, 640K internal memory (RAM), and a hard drive with at least 2-17MB of available disk space. Use the eight volumes together to get the full benefit of the NTP Chemical Repository Database, or select only those volumes that contain the information you need and use them as stand-alone databases. Each volume consists of one 3-1/2" and two 5-1/4" diskettes, that will run on IBM or IBM-compatible hardware!

Download or read book Handbook of Air Toxics written by Lawrence H. Keith and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-09-10 with total page 636 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook of Air Toxics compiles, defines, and clarifies several methods and concepts of airborne toxic substances found in the environment. This comprehensive reference helps regulators, consultants, and other environmental professionals meet the challenges of sampling and analysis, emissions reductions, and health and safety issues related to human exposure. It is an important reference addressing the ongoing concern about the consequences of air pollution, and the implementation and modification of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Clean Air Act. Some of the methods described in the Handbook of Air Toxics include fluorescence, thermal desorption, selected ion monitoring, ion chromatography, light microscopy, specific electrode analysis, titration, colorimetry, atomic absorption, and spectrophotometry. It also covers the use of isokinetic sampling trains, midget impingers, carbon molecular sieves, and sampling canisters in the analysis of air toxics. The Handbook also contains recommendations from the EPA for analytical methods for those air toxics where methods do not already exist and provides advance information on future method development by the EPA.

Download or read book Fundamentals of Biofuels Engineering and Technology written by Cataldo De Blasio and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-09 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the use of biomass as an energy source and its application in energy conversion technologies. Focusing on the challenges of, and technologies related to, biomass conversion, the book is divided into three parts. The first part underlines the fundamental concepts that form the basis of biomass production, its feasibility valuation, and its potential utilization. This part does not consider only how biomass is generated, but also methods of assessment. The second part focuses on the clarification of central concepts of the biorefinery processes. After a preliminary introduction with industrial examples, common issues of biochemical reaction engineering applications are analysed in detail. The theory explained in this part demonstrates that the chemical kinetics are the core focus in modelling biological processes such as growth, decay, product formation and feedstock consumption. This part continues with the theory of biofuels production, including biogas, bioethanol, biodiesel and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of hydrocarbons. The third part of this book gives detailed explanations of preliminary notions related to the theory of thermodynamics. This theory will assist the reader when taking into account the concepts treated in the previous two parts of the book. Several detailed derivations are given to give the reader a full understanding of the arguments at hand. This part also gives literature data on the main properties of some biomass feedstock. Fundamentals of Biofuels Engineering and Technology will be of interest not only to academics and researchers working in this field but also to graduate students and energy professionals seeking to expand their knowledge of this increasingly important area.

Download or read book Health Advisories for Drinking Water Contaminants written by Us Epa and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992-12-15 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Water (OW) initiated the Health Advisory Program in 1978 to provide information and guidance to individuals or agencies concerned with potential risk from drinking water contaminants for which no national regulations currently exist. Since that time, more than 130 Health Advisories (HAs) have been published in final form for inorganic, organic, and microbial contaminants. The HAs in this volume were developed in a cooperative effort with the Office of Research and Development. They summarize available data concerning the occurrence, pharmacokinetics, and health effects of 12 specific contaminants or mixtures. Each HA also discusses available analytical methods and treatment techniques for the contaminant. Each HA has undergone critical internal review by the OW Toxicology Review Panel and EPA program offices. Health Advisories for Drinking Water Contaminants will be an important reference document for all public health officials, drinking water professionals, and academic libraries.
Download or read book Techniques and Experiments For Organic Chemistry written by Addison Ault and published by University Science Books. This book was released on 1998-08-12 with total page 698 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Embraced by the inside covers' periodic table of elements and table of solutions of acids, the new edition of this introductory text continues to describe laboratory operations in its first part, and experiments in the second. Revisions by Ault (Cornell U.) include detailed instructions for the disposal of waste, and experiments with more interesting compounds (e.g. seven reactions of vanillin, and isolating ibuprofin from ibuprofin tablets). Conscious of costs, microscale experiments are included but not to the point where minuscule amounts of material will preclude the aesthetic pleasure of watching crystals form or distillates collect.
