Book excerpt: Introduction : la plongée sous-marine est un loisir sportif nécessitant des capacités de raisonnement et de prise de décision. L'objectif principal était de déterminer les caractéristiques de la consommation d'alcool chez les plongeurs français et de définir les facteurs de risque dans cette population. Méthodologie : étude observationnelle transversale recueillie par questionnaire électronique de mars à juin 2016. Un total de 1 500 clubs avertis par email. Tous les plongeurs français avec une certification FFESSM ou PADI étaient éligibles. Résultats : 4302 plongeurs ont été inclus. Le score AUDIT a permis d'estimer une consommation à risque et une alcoolo-dépendance respectivement chez 26,4 % et 8,1 % des plongeurs français. Les plongeurs à risque d'alcoolo-dépendance sont des hommes (OR : 1,7 [1,3-2,2]), jeunes (OR : 2,4 [1,4-3,9]) et niveau 1 (OR : 2,8 [1,9-4,3]) résidant dans les DOM-TOM (OR : 2,4 [1,8-3]). Les plongeurs consomment plus fréquemment de l'alcool et s'adonnent plus souvent aux alcoolisations ponctuelles importantes comparativement à la population générale française. Dans notre cohorte, 19,8 % des plongeurs interrogés ont déclaré avoir plongé avec un binôme alcoolisé et 30 % ont admis consommer de l'alcool dans les 6 heures avant une plongée. Parmi eux, 8,8 % estimaient que cette consommation avait affecté leur plongée. Conclusion : la consommation d'alcool a des répercussions sur la plongée et nécessiterait à minima une information sur les risques auxquels les plongeurs s'exposent. Le médecin généraliste est un acteur primordial du dépistage en soins premiers dans cette population à risque.
