Download or read book Knocking in Gasoline Engines written by Michael Günther and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-21 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book includes the papers presented at the conference discussing approaches to prevent or reliably control knocking and other irregular combustion events. The majority of today’s highly efficient gasoline engines utilize downsizing. High mean pressures produce increased knocking, which frequently results in a reduction in the compression ratio at high specific powers. Beyond this, the phenomenon of pre-ignition has been linked to the rise in specific power in gasoline engines for many years. Charge-diluted concepts with high compression cause extreme knocking, potentially leading to catastrophic failure. The introduction of RDE legislation this year will further grow the requirements for combustion process development, as residual gas scavenging and enrichment to improve the knock limit will be legally restricted despite no relaxation of the need to reach the main center of heat release as early as possible. New solutions in thermodynamics and control engineering are urgently needed to further increase the efficiency of gasoline engines.

Download or read book International Conference on Ignition Systems for Gasoline Engines International Conference on Knocking in Gasoline Engines written by Marc Sens and published by expert verlag GmbH. This book was released on 2022-10-17 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For decades, scientists and engineers have been working to increase the efficiency of internal combustion engines. For spark-ignition engines, two technical questions in particular are always in focus: 1. How can the air/fuel mixture be optimally ignited under all possible conditions? 2. How can undesirable but recurrent early and self-ignitions in the air/fuel mixture be avoided? Against the background of the considerable efficiency increases currently being sought in the context of developments and the introduction of new fuels, such as hydrogen, methanol, ammonia and other hydrogen derivatives as well as biofuels, these questions are more in the focus than ever. In order to provide a perfect exchange platform for the community of combustion process and system developers from research and development, IAV has organized this combined conference, chaired by Marc Sens. The proceedings presented here represent the collection of all the topics presented at the event and are thus intended to serve as an inspiration and pool of ideas for all interested parties.

This book was released on 2021-05-15 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: div="" This book covers different aspects related to utilization of alcohol fuels in internal combustion (IC) engines with a focus on combustion, performance and emission investigations. The focal point of this book is to present engine combustion, performance and emission characteristics of IC engines fueled by alcohol blended fuels such as methanol, ethanol and butanol. The contents also highlight the importance of alcohol fuel for reducing emission levels. Possibility of alcohol fuels for marine applications has also been discussed. This book is a useful guide for researchers, academics and scientists. ^

Download or read book Internal Combustion Engine in Theory and Practice second edition revised Volume 2 written by Charles Fayette Taylor and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1985-03-19 with total page 804 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This revised edition of Taylor's classic work on the internal-combustion engine incorporates changes and additions in engine design and control that have been brought on by the world petroleum crisis, the subsequent emphasis on fuel economy, and the legal restraints on air pollution. The fundamentals and the topical organization, however, remain the same. The analytic rather than merely descriptive treatment of actual engine cycles, the exhaustive studies of air capacity, heat flow, friction, and the effects of cylinder size, and the emphasis on application have been preserved. These are the basic qualities that have made Taylor's work indispensable to more than one generation of engineers and designers of internal-combustion engines, as well as to teachers and graduate students in the fields of power, internal-combustion engineering, and general machine design.

Download or read book Ethanol Fuels written by Steven J. Winston and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text on small-scale ethanol production is for use at the junior college or community college level, for a continuing education course, or for an intensive short course. It provides for those considering small-scale ethanol production: 1) a starting point to incorporate ethanol production into farming operations, 2) information that investors and financiers can use to evaluate prospects for particular ethanol production ventures, and 3) some yardsticks to assess the profitability of incorporating ethanol production into operations. Fundamental principles are the main emphasis. Although underlying theory is presented, the information is carefully selected for its direct practical value.
Download or read book Biofuels written by Daniel Black and published by Scientific e-Resources. This book was released on 2019-06-13 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Energy is a fundamental enabler of economy, and revolutionary changes in energy cost and effectiveness, from animal and wood, to coal, whale oil, petroleum and nuclear technologies, have deeply shaped throughout history societal evolution worldwide. The nextwave of changes, as the world economic engine integrates renewable energy technologies such as solar technologies or biofuels, perhaps constitutes a greater challenge since predictably these technologies will be at least transiently less efficient than the conventional energies of today based on fossil and nuclear fuels. Understanding these challenges that lie ahead is an important task to perform in order to design winning industrial strategies for the future. Chapter 1 and 2 discuss about the basics of biofuel and The Global Demand for Biofuels: Technologies, Markets and Policies. If biofuel is one of the expected solutions, we must know where is the beginning of the crisis and its solution. This chapter reviews the background story along with an optimistic outlook for a safe energy resource on our green earth. Chapter 3 is based on the Renewable Energy Resources. Chapter 4 depicts about the biomass and biofuels. Chapter 5, 6, 7 and 8 covers the use of bioethanol, hydrogen, methane and methonal. Chapter 9 describes the use of Ethanol and Methonal as fuel. Chapter 10 is based on the Energy systems, their storage and transmission. Chapter 11 depicts the Institutional and economic factors from renewable. The association of the book is concocted to encourage viable learning encounters The book is organized in a manner to cater to the needs of students, researchers, managerial organizations, and readers at large. It is hoped that this book will help our readers to understand: What are the various biofuels available to us; Why biofuels are required; How to use biofuels. What is the need to Conserve these biofuels.
