Features Includes all new content and does not replace the previous edition Covers machine learning approaches in both signal and image processing for remote sensing Studies deep learning methods for remote sensing information extraction that is found in other books Explains SAR, microwave, seismic, GPR, and hyperspectral sensors and all sensors considered Discusses improved pattern classification approaches and compressed sensing approaches Provides ample examples of each aspect of both signal and image processing This book is intended for university academics, researchers, postgraduate students, industry, and government professionals who use remote sensing and its applications.

Book Project Earth Science

Download or read book Project Earth Science written by Geoff Holt and published by NSTA Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Project Earth Science: Astronomy, Revised 2nd Edition, involves students in activities that focus on Earth's position in our solar system. How do we measure astronomical distances? How can we look back in time as we gaze across vast distances in space? How would our planet be different without its particular atmosphere and distance to our star? What are the geometries among Earth, the Moon, and the Sun that yield lunar phases and seasons? Students explore these concepts and others in 11 teacher-tested activities.

Book Signal and Image Processing for Remote Sensing Second Edition

Download or read book Signal and Image Processing for Remote Sensing Second Edition written by C.H. Chen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2012-02-22 with total page 623 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Continuing in the footsteps of the pioneering first edition, Signal and Image Processing for Remote Sensing, Second Edition explores the most up-to-date signal and image processing methods for dealing with remote sensing problems. Although most data from satellites are in image form, signal processing can contribute significantly in extracting information from remotely sensed waveforms or time series data. This book combines both, providing a unique balance between the role of signal processing and image processing. Featuring contributions from worldwide experts, this book continues to emphasize mathematical approaches. Not limited to satellite data, it also considers signals and images from hydroacoustic, seismic, microwave, and other sensors. Chapters cover important topics in signal and image processing and discuss techniques for dealing with remote sensing problems. Each chapter offers an introduction to the topic before delving into research results, making the book accessible to a broad audience. This second edition reflects the considerable advances that have occurred in the field, with 23 of 27 chapters being new or entirely rewritten. Coverage includes new mathematical developments such as compressive sensing, empirical mode decomposition, and sparse representation, as well as new component analysis methods such as non-negative matrix and tensor factorization. The book also presents new experimental results on SAR and hyperspectral image processing. The emphasis is on mathematical techniques that will far outlast the rapidly changing sensor, software, and hardware technologies. Written for industrial and academic researchers and graduate students alike, this book helps readers connect the "dots" in image and signal processing. New in This Edition The second edition includes four chapters from the first edition, plus 23 new or entirely rewritten chapters, and 190 new figures. New topics covered include: Compressive sensing The mixed pixel problem with hyperspectral images Hyperspectral image (HSI) target detection and classification based on sparse representation An ISAR technique for refocusing moving targets in SAR images Empirical mode decomposition for signal processing Feature extraction for classification of remote sensing signals and images Active learning methods in classification of remote sensing images Signal subspace identification of hyperspectral data Wavelet-based multi/hyperspectral image restoration and fusion The second edition is not intended to replace the first edition entirely and readers are encouraged to read both editions of the book for a more complete picture of signal and image processing in remote sensing. See Signal and Image Processing for Remote Sensing (CRC Press 2006).

Book Natural Disasters as Interactive Components of Global Ecodynamics

Download or read book Natural Disasters as Interactive Components of Global Ecodynamics written by Kirill Ya Kondratyev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-08-31 with total page 606 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Large-scale natural catastrophes are environmental phenomena. Numerous studies in recent years have concluded that the frequency of occurrence of such natural disasters have been incereasing. leading to an enhanced risk of very considerable human and economic losses and the widespread destruction and pollution of habitats, settlements and infrastructure. In 2001 over 650 natural disasters happened around the globe with economic losses exceeding $35 billion. 2004 ended with the South East Asian tsunami on 26th December with its huge toll on life and local economics and this demonstrated that the efffects of such disasters are most keenly felt in poorer or developing regions. The problem of natural disaster prediction and the implementation of environmental monitoring systems to receive, store and process the information necessary for solutions of specific problems in this area , have been analysed by the three authors of this book, all of whom are internationally respected experts in this field.

Book Scientific Satellite and Moon Based Earth Observation for Global Change

Download or read book Scientific Satellite and Moon Based Earth Observation for Global Change written by Huadong Guo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-06-27 with total page 641 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global change involves complex and far-reaching variations in the Earth’s systems, and satellite observations have been widely used in global change studies. Over the past five decades, Earth observation has developed into a comprehensive system that can conduct dynamic monitoring of the land, the oceans and the atmosphere at the local, regional and even global scale. At the same time, although a large number of Earth observation satellites have been launched, very few of them are used in global change studies. The lack of scientific satellite programs greatly hinders research on global change. This book proposes using a series of global change scientific satellites to establish a scientific observation grid for global environmental change monitoring from space, and offers the first comprehensive review of lunar-based Earth observation. These scientific satellites could provide not only basic datasets but also scientific support in facilitating advances in international global change research.
