Book Airborne and Ground Based Measurements of Optical Atmospheric Properties in Southern Illinois

Download or read book Airborne and Ground Based Measurements of Optical Atmospheric Properties in Southern Illinois written by and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents daytime atmospheric optical data collected chiefly with airborne instruments during a field expedition in southern Illinois in the summer of 1971. Results from four flights and selected ground-based data are presented. The data include the natural irradiance upon horizontal plane surfaces, scalar irradiances, total volume scattering coefficients, atmospheric beam transmittances, path radiances, directional path reflectances, and directional terrain reflectances. Data for sunlight conditions were derived for downward-looking paths of sight inclined at six zenith angles (95, 100, 105, 120, 150, and 180 degrees) from maximum altitudes of 3000 to 5100 meters above ground level and lower in three spectral regions, as follows: two narrow band optical filters with mean wavelengths of 478 and 664 nanometers; and one broad band sensitivity representing the photopic response with a mean wavelength of 557 nanometers.

This book was released on 1972 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents atmospheric optical data collected in the daytime chiefly with airborne instruments during a field expedition to central New Mexico in the Fall of 1970. Results from six flights are presented. The data include irradiance, directional reflectance of terrain, total volume scattering coefficients, atmospheric beam transmittance, path radiance, and directional path reflectance. Data for sunlight and overcast conditions were derived for downward-looking paths of sight inclined at seven zenith angles (93, 95, 100, 105, 120, 150, and 180 degrees) from altitudes of 4500 meters above ground level and lower in four spectral regions, as follows: three narrow band optical filters with mean wavelengths of 478,664, and 765 nanometers; and one broad band sensitivity representing the photopic response with a mean wavelength of 557 nanometers. Book Airborne Measurements of Optical Atmospheric Properties in Western Washington

Download or read book Airborne Measurements of Optical Atmospheric Properties in Western Washington written by Seibert Q. Duntley and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents daytime atmospheric optical data collected chiefly with airborne instruments during a field expedition to western Washington in the summer of 1974. Results from seven flights are presented. The data include the natural irradiance upon horizontal plane surfaces, scalar irradiances, total volume scattering coefficients, atmospheric beam transmittances, path radiances, directional path reflectances, and directional terrain reflectances. Data for daytime conditions ranging from clear skies to completely overcast were derived for downward-looking paths of sight inclined at six zenith angles (95, 100, 105, 150, and 180 degrees) from altitudes of 1200 meters above ground level and lower. All data were measured with a broad band sensitivity representing pseudo-photopic spectral response with a mean wavelength of 557 nanometers. (Author).

Book Airborne Measurements of Optical Atmospheric Properties Summary and Review III

Download or read book Airborne Measurements of Optical Atmospheric Properties Summary and Review III written by Seibert Q. Duntley and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report summarizes a three year period devoted primarily to collection and evaluation of optical atmospheric data describing the western European environment. Five field expeditions were made between April 1976 and September 1978. They were conducted as a cooperative, but independent effort associated with the NATO Research Study Group 8 of Panel IV, AC243 and their Program OPAQUE. Measurements were made in six representative geographical areas during each of the four seasons, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. Optical measurements were made in four regions within the visual spectrum as follows: two moderately narrow bands having mean wavelengths of 478 and 664 nanometers, one slightly wider band at 765 nanometers and one relatively broad band representing the photopic response having a mean wavelength of 557 nanometers. The daytime optical measurements included total volume scattering coefficient, sky and terrain radiances, and both upwelling and downwelling irradiances. Simultaneous meteorological measurements included temperature, dewpoint temperature and atmospheric pressure. The optical atmospheric properties derived from these data and presented in reports typified by AFGL-TR-76-0188 and AFGL-TR-78-0168 are reviewd as are their methods of derivation and validation. The methods of data collection and processing are summarized and reviewed as is the overall resulting data bank. Examples related to the use of the data are included as well as recommendations for further data study and interpretation. (Author).

Book Airborne Measurements of Optical Atmospheric Properties

Download or read book Airborne Measurements of Optical Atmospheric Properties written by Seibert Q. Duntley and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report summarizes a 3-year period of collecting optical atmospheric data in the daytime chiefly with airborne instruments. Nine field expeditions were made between November 1969 and August 1972 in various places in the United States and Europe, primarily during the spring and fall. Measurements were made in five spectral regions, as follows: three narrow band optical filters with mean wavelengths of 478, 664, and 765 nanometers, and two broad band sensitivities, one representing the S-20 multiplier phototube incorporating an ultraviolet rejection filter with a mean wavelength of 532 nanometers, the other represnting the photopic response with a mean wavelength of 557 nanometers. Optical measurements included total scattering coefficient and sky and terrain radiance. These data were used to calculate natural irradiance on a horizontal plane surface, directional reflectance of terrain, atmospheric beam transmittance, path radiance, and directional path reflectance. The methods of data collection and data processing are reviewed, the resultant data bank described, and initial comparisons made between several of the field expeditions. (Author).
