Book Digital Lighting Rendering

Download or read book Digital Lighting Rendering written by Jeremy Birn and published by Pearson Education. This book was released on 2014 with total page 525 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who better to teach students the fine art and craft of digital lighting and rendering than the individual who created many of the stunning lighting effects for Pixar's blockbuster films such as Brave, Toy Story 3, Wall-e, Cars, and The Incredibles? In these pages, lighting and animation pro Jeremy Birn draws on his wealth of industry and teaching experience to provide an thoroughly updated edition of what has become the standard guide to digital lighting and rendering. Using beautiful, full-colour examples; a friendly, clear teaching style; and a slew of case studies and tutorials, Jeremy demonstrates how to create strategic lighting for just about any project. By explaining not just how to use various lighting techniques but why, this guide provides the grounding graphics pros need to master Hollywood lighting techniques. Realising that lighting - how it's used, where it's placed, and the kind of shadow it casts - is critical to any image, Jeremy dedicates the first half of his volume to just that topic. Additional chapters cover colour, exposure, composition, materials and textures, and compositing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of the 10th Eurographics Workshop on Rendering, which took place from the 21st to the 23rd of June, 1999, in Granada, Spain. Origi nally an outgrowth of the annual Eurographics meeting, the workshop was organized by a dedicated group of researchers who felt there was insufficient opportunity at Eu rographics and Siggraph to exchange ideas specifically on rendering. Over the past 9 years, the workshop has become renown as an international watershed for top quality work in this field, attracting between 50 and 100 attendees each year to share their latest research. This year we received a total of 63 submissions. Each paper was carefully reviewed by two of the 25 international programme committee members, as well as two external reviewers, selected by the co-chairs from a pool of 71 individuals. (The programme committee and external reviewers are listed following the contents pages.) In this new review process, all submissions and reviews were handled electronically, with the ex ception of videos submitted with a few of the papers. This streamlined the review process considerably, while reducing the costs and confusion associated with courier delivery of hundreds of papers.

Book Physically Based Rendering of Synthetic Objects in Real Environments

Download or read book Physically Based Rendering of Synthetic Objects in Real Environments written by Joel Kronander and published by Linköping University Electronic Press. This book was released on 2015-11-10 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis presents methods for photorealistic rendering of virtual objects so that they can be seamlessly composited into images of the real world. To generate predictable and consistent results, we study physically based methods, which simulate how light propagates in a mathematical model of the augmented scene. This computationally challenging problem demands both efficient and accurate simulation of the light transport in the scene, as well as detailed modeling of the geometries, illumination conditions, and material properties. In this thesis, we discuss and formulate the challenges inherent in these steps and present several methods to make the process more efficient. In particular, the material contained in this thesis addresses four closely related areas: HDR imaging, IBL, reflectance modeling, and efficient rendering. The thesis presents a new, statistically motivated algorithm for HDR reconstruction from raw camera data combining demosaicing, denoising, and HDR fusion in a single processing operation. The thesis also presents practical and robust methods for rendering with spatially and temporally varying illumination conditions captured using omnidirectional HDR video. Furthermore, two new parametric BRDF models are proposed for surfaces exhibiting wide angle gloss. Finally, the thesis also presents a physically based light transport algorithm based on Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods that allows approximations to be used in place of exact quantities, while still converging to the exact result. As illustrated in the thesis, the proposed algorithm enables efficient rendering of scenes with glossy transfer and heterogenous participating media.
