Download or read book Aids to Tropical Medicine Classic Reprint written by Gilbert E. Brooke and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-03 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Aids to Tropical Medicine The number of openings for medical men in the tropical portions of our Empire, the admission of cases of tropical disease by the agency of our increasing commerce, and the recognition of grave colonial and international sanitary questions, have all served to give an impetus to the study of tropical diseases at home. The concrete results of this impetus have been manifested by the establishment of Schools of Tropical Medicine both in London and at Liverpool, as well as by the institution of Diplomas in Tropical Medicine to be conferred after due examination by several examining Boards. The present small volume does not in any way aim at providing a text-book on the subject, but is rather intended to form a students note-book, in which a concise and up-to-date summary of the chief points may be found. To attain this object, everything not deemed essential has been omitted, and theoretical considerations have been excluded as much as possible. For convenience of reference the arrangement of subject-matter is strictly alphabetical throughout. Some of the results of the Royal Society Commission on Malta fever have been incorporated.
