Book AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series Volume 15 Gyroscopic Instruments and Their Application to Flight Testing

Download or read book AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series Volume 15 Gyroscopic Instruments and Their Application to Flight Testing written by and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This AGARDograph is the 15th of the AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series and discusses the use of gyroscopic instruments to support flight testing. Gyroscopic instruments are used in flight tests to measure the aircraft angular acelerations and rates, attitude and heading and - in combination with accelerometers - the linear acceleration, the ground velocity and the position. This volume describes the measuring principles, the technical lay-out and the error behaviour of the sensors and systems used for these measurements: Gyros, accelerometers, attitude and heading references and inertial navigation systems. Attention is also given to integrated and hybrid sensor systems, as they are in the modern instrumentation systems. Examples of actual flight instrumentation systems are described and the requirements for the gyroscopic sensors in these systems are discussed for applications in aircraft stability and control flight tests, in performance tests and in airborne and ground systems calibration and testing. Download or read book AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series Volume 1 Issue 2 Basic Principles of Flight Test Instrumentation Engineering Introduction Generale Aux Principles de Base de L Instrumentation Des Essais en Vol written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the publication of this volume about 15 years ago, the AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series - to which this Volume 1 is the introduction - has grown to 18 volumes covering many important aspects in the field of flight test engineering. This introductory volume has been extensively and successfully used as an introduction to flight test for those just starting in this field and as a reference volume for courses and symposia. When it was decided that it should be updated, it was decided to retain as much as possible the qualities that were liked in the first edition. The Main Division into three parts of this first edition has been retained: (1) General considerations about the design of a flight test instrumentation system; (2) Design of a single measuring system; and (3) Design of multi-channel instrumentation systems.

Book AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series Volume 6 Open and Closed Loop Accelerometers

Download or read book AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series Volume 6 Open and Closed Loop Accelerometers written by and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report provides a balanced up-to-date presentation of the state-of-the-art of both open and closed loop accelerometers used for aircraft flight test work, covering system and component analysis and basic hardware design. Both physical design problems and mathematical analysis are covered and special emphasis is put on those aspects likely to be relevant to aircraft flight test work. Performance details includes repeatability, compensation for temperature variation, insusceptibility to cross effects, stability under vibration and frequency response. The application of accelerometers in several flight test techniques together with their performance requirements are reviewed in order to guide the flight test engineer in making his choice of instrument in any particular case.

Book Flight Test Instrumentation

Download or read book Flight Test Instrumentation written by M. A. Perry and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-11-04 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flight Test Instrumentation is a collection of papers presented at the Third International Symposium on Flight Test Instrumentation held in 1964 under the auspices of the Department of Flight of the College of Aeronautics in Cranfield, UK. The symposium provided a forum for discussing advances in flight test instrumentation and covered topics ranging from pre-detection recording in the megacycle range to some problems and uses of fuel flow measurements in supersonic aircraft. This volume is comprised of 14 chapters and begins by describing angle of attack and angle of sideslip measurements using fully de-iced non-movable differential pressure-sensing heads and low-range capacitive pressure transducers. The next chapter explores errors in stability derivative measurements that can occur due to shortcomings in instrumentation design, as well as the implications of such errors for the development of a modern supersonic aeroplane. The application of the vector plotting technique to flight flutter testing of the Hawker Siddeley Trident is then considered. Subsequent chapters focus on the use of high-accuracy instrumentation techniques for non-steady flight measurements; strain gauging for transient heating cases; and free-flight model techniques for aerodynamic research at supersonic and hypersonic speeds. This book will be a useful resource for students, practitioners, and officials of aeronautics.

Book AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series Volume 13 Practical Aspects of Instrumentation System Installation

Download or read book AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series Volume 13 Practical Aspects of Instrumentation System Installation written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This AGARDograph is the 13th of the AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series and outlines some of the factors that influence the development of an instrumentation system installation. The volume was not written with the intention of being a design handbook and therefore the guidelines presented are in most cases given as suggestions. The material is presented in a progressive manner starting with a review of the mission profile requirements. Included are such factors as environment, reliability and maintainability, and system safety. The assessment of the mission profile is followed by an overview of electrical and mechanical installation factors. The material presented is primarily directed at shock/vibration isolation systems and standardization of the electrical wiring installation, two factors often overlooked by instrumentation engineers. A discussion of installation hardware reviews the performance capabilities of wiring, connectors, fuses and circuit breakers, and so forth. Information is provided to guide proper selections. The discussion of the installation is primarily concerned with the electrical wire routing, shield terminations and grounding. Also included are some examples of installation mistakes that could affect system accuracy. The remaining two sections discuss system verification procedures and special considerations such as sneak circuits, pyrotechnics, aircraft antenna patterns, and lightning strikes.

Download or read book AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series Volume 1 Basic Principles of Flight Test Instrumentation Engineering written by and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main purpose of the AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series is to provide monographs on the more important aspects of flight test instrumentation as a reference for the flight test engineer. The first monographs in the series discuss in-flight temperature measurements, fuel flow and engine rotation speed measurements, open and closed-loop accelerometers and magnetic tape recording; they will be followed by others. In this introductory volume it has been tried to highlight the main lines along which a flight test instrumentation system is developed, to indicate the main steps which must be taken during the design and to define the basic concepts used by each specialist. A flight test system is considered to include both the data collection and the data processing systems.
