What is enough? Holly Whitcomb presents the spiritual practice of finding as the antidote to chronic seeking and as the doorway to a grateful awareness of having received enough. She reflects on wisdom distilled by the “finders”—poets, playwrights, psychologists, and theologians—and derived from her own experience. When we engage in finding, we recognize with humility and wonder that the universe contains possibilities beyond our power to imagine. The Practice of Finding is an inspiring guide to that journey of discovery.

Download or read book Affirmation Station written by Ed Lannin and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-11-03 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When we look for answers to life's complexities and perplexities, it seems the search sometimes brings up too much or not enough information. Being able to focus on one subject at a time and to see it from three or more angles is the theme of these daily devotions. What is written is pure scripture from the Bible without a lot of opinion, inference, or argument. The three or more verses under each heading are intended to give the reader God's thoughts only. The chapter and verses are included so one can confirm accuracy (Acts 17:11), check context, or look at them from their own favorite version. What was written in the Word is for our benefit. God's ways truly work, and what He expects of us is not grievous to bear. Applying biblical principles to our lives puts our proverbial houses [our lives] on a foundation of rock, where neither storm nor wind can move it. So it follows that in all our ways we should consult and acknowledge Him. "Who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy" (1 Peter 2:10) is a little bit of Scripture rich in encouragement and assurance. This verse is speaking to those who have came to a godly sorrow for wrong doing and being obstinate toward God [sin], which caused them to turn away from it [repent]. They have put their trust in (Jesus) Christ's claims of being the sinless Son of God, that the precious sin cleansing blood of His death on the cross and resurrection [that God raised Jesus from the dead, being seated at His right hand] has bought them eternal salvation. They have confessed with their mouth [acknowledged to others] that they have accepted Jesus to be Lord of their lives (Romans 10:9-10), so as to receive the righteousness of God [right standing with God, that brings peace with Him], which is through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe (Romans 3:22). It is a sample of our being able to cast our cares upon God, so He can perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us (1 Peter 5:10), as we cherish and embrace His Word. All the hope, correction, love, grace, encouragement, help and assurance God wants to give can be anyone's by asking Jesus into their heart. This rich everlasting relationship even with its troubles and persecutions is truly the most important, best and abundantly blessed that any and all of us can enter into!
Download or read book TRUST ME I M THE PATIENT Clean Language Metaphor and the New Psychology of Change written by Philip Harland and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-07-01 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Superb. Substantial. Entertaining. Informative." An essential read for anyone who finds themself counseling or working with others. Aimed mainly at psychotherapy and coaching, but readily translates into lessons for business, education, and everyday use. 'Trust Me, I'm The Patient' takes you step by step through a process that lends itself to the most profound therapeutic transformation and yet can be used informally at home, at work, or in the queue for the bus. Science, psychology, philosophy, and a vibrating peach are all part of the story in this far-reaching but readily accessible guide to the practice of Clean Language questioning, a knowledge of which will enable you to enter another person's world almost unnoticed and once there to tread very, very lightly. And what will happen as a result is that the person you facilitate will get to know - and change, and heal - themself. "Philip Harland takes us on a clear and compelling journey into the nuances of words, questions, and sentence structure, and explains why small changes make such a big difference to both listener and speaker. He guides us through the minefields of unclean practice and shows us how seductive and wasteful our projections and assumptions can be. If you have ever wanted an easier ride with clients and colleagues, family and friends, this book tells you how to let go the reins and facilitate them to take up their own. A fabulous addition to Clean resources and one that most closely matches the way the creator of Clean Language, the late David Grove, would explain himself. I defy anyone to read this book and not clean up their language." Caitlin Walker, educationalist, author of Clean Language and Systemic Modelling
