Download or read book Maintenance for Industrial Systems written by Riccardo Manzini and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-11-09 with total page 479 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New, global and extended markets are forcing companies to process and manage increasingly differentiated products with shorter life cycles, low volumes and reduced customer delivery times. In today’s global marketplace production systems need to be able to deliver products on time, maintain market credibility and introduce new products and services faster than competitors. As a result, a new production paradigm of a production system has been developed and a supporting management decision-making approach simultaneously incorporating design, management, and control of the production system is necessary so that this challenge can be effectively and efficiency met. "Maintenance Engineering and its Applications in Production Systems" meets this need by introducing an original and integrated idea of maintenance: maintenance for productivity. The volume starts with the introduction and discussion of a new conceptual framework based on productivity, quality, and safety supported by maintenance. Subsequent chapters illustrate the most relevant models and methods to plan, organise, implement and control the whole maintenance process (reliability evaluation models and prediction, maintenance strategies and policies, spare parts management, computer maintenance management software – CMMS, and total productive maintenance – TPM, etc.). Several examples of problems supported by solutions, and real applications to help and test the reader’s comprehension are included. "Maintenance Engineering and its Applications in Production Systems" will certainly be valuable to engineering students, doctoral and post-doctoral students and also to maintenance practitioners, as well as managers of industrial and service companies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2015 edition of ISO 9001 has been modernized to update terminology and content to meet current and anticipated user needs. The major emphasis of ISO 9001:2015 is still consistent provision of products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. This book explains the meaning and intent of the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and discusses the requirements as they relate to each of the product categories. Where appropriate, it includes an elaboration of why the requirements are important. It also includes typical audit-type questions that an organization may consider to assess conformity to internal needs and ISO 9001 requirements. Recommendations for implementation are also included. This book addresses the needs of: Users and organizations seeking a general understanding of the contents of ISO 9001:2015 Users and organizations desiring guidance to ensure their ISO 9001:2015 QMS meets the new version requirements Users and organizations considering the use of ISO 9001:2015 as a foundation for the development of a comprehensive QMS Educators who require a textbook to accompany a training class or course on ISO 9001:2015 Auditors who desire to increase their level of auditing competence Authors Cianfrani and West, members of the expert group that developed ISO 9001:2015, strive to provide a context for all requirements to enable you to develop and deploy processes that will strengthen your QMS. Getting or retaining a certificate is not the real objective. Satisfied customers and organizational sustainability should be primary objectives for the organization.

Download or read book Ensuring Quality to Gain Access to Global Markets written by Martin Kellermann and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2019-04-09 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a modern world with rapidly growing international trade, countries compete less based on the availability of natural resources, geographical advantages, and lower labor costs and more on factors related to firms' ability to enter and compete in new markets. One such factor is the ability to demonstrate the quality and safety of goods and services expected by consumers and confirm compliance with international standards. To assure such compliance, a sound quality infrastructure (QI) ecosystem is essential. Jointly developed by the World Bank Group and the National Metrology Institute of Germany, this guide is designed to help development partners and governments analyze a country's quality infrastructure ecosystems and provide recommendations to design and implement reforms and enhance the capacity of their QI institutions.

Download or read book Staffing Standards for Aviation Safety Inspectors written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2006-12-06 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A primary mission of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is the assurance of safety in civil aviation, both private and commercial. To accomplish this mission, the FAA has promulgated a large number of regulations and has established a major division, the Office of Aviation Safety, to enforce and maintain the regulations and effectively promote safety in aviation. Within the office there are several subordinate organizations. Staffing Standards for Aviation Safety Inspectors is concerned with two of them: the Flight Standards Service (called AFS), charged with overseeing aviation operations and maintenance, as well as other programs, and the Aircraft Certification Service (AIR), charged with ensuring the safety of aircraft through regulation and oversight of their design and manufacture. The objective of the study is to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the methods and models that the FAA now uses in developing staffing standards and projections of staffing needs for ASIs and to advise the FAA on potential improvements. Staffing Standards for Aviation Safety Inspectors is organized in an Executive Summary and five chapters. This first chapter provides the background of the study and explains the committee's approach to its task. Chapter 2 discusses modeling and its applicability to the development of staffing standards for such organizations as the Flight Standards Service and the Aircraft Certification Service. Chapter 3 traces the recent history of staffing standards in these organizations and considers manpower and staffing models and methods used by other organizations. Chapter 4 examines factors to be considered in the development of ASI staffing standards and the challenges faced by any methodology applied to this task. Chapter 5 presents the committee's findings and recommendations, including a discussion of issues and constraints that must be considered in weighing the implementation of alternative approaches.
