Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book assists design engineers in making the design trade-offs and the necessary decisions in the various stages of the design in a wide range of engineering applications. It covers mechanisms of rotational motion; variable speed drives; mechanisms of cyclic motion; lubrication systems; and components of mechanisms. The book provides extensive reference information, while stressing the role of the design engineer throughout, as well as the design trade-offs to be made in practical engineering scenarios.

Download or read book Strategies for Tourism Industry written by Murat Kasimoglu and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-04-20 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, it is considered good business practice for tourism industries to support their micro and macro environment by means of strategic perspectives. This is necessary because we cannot contemplate companies existing without their environment. If companies do not involve themselves in such undertakings, they are in danger of isolating themselves from the shareholder. That, in turn, creates a problem for mobilizing new ideas and receiving feedback from their environment. In this respect, the contributions of academics from international level together with the private sector and business managers are eagerly awaited on topics and sub-topics within Strategies for Tourism Industry - Micro and Macro Perspectives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The continuing need for better urban transport systems and a healthier environment has led to an increased level of research around the world. This is reflected in Urban Transport XI, which features the proceedings of the latest conference in this well-established series. The subjects covered are of primary importance for analysing the complex interaction of the urban transport environment and for establishing action strategies for transport and traffic problems. Over 85 papers are included and these highlight topics within the following areas: Urban Transport Systems, Public Transport Systems; Infrastructure and Maintenance; Safety and Security; Transport Sustainability; Accessibility and Mobility; Environmental Impacts; Air and Noise Pollution; Energy and Fuel; Integrated Land Use and Transport; Travel Demand Management; Traffic Control and Integration; Advanced Transport Systems; Simulation; Economic and Social Impacts and Cost and Investment Analysis.
Download or read book Winch and cable systems written by I. Samset and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 537 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a civil engineering handbook on winch and cable systems. The handbook may be used as textbook for university studies in civil engineering and forestry and as the basis for studies in schools on a technical level. It should be a useful reference book for construction engineers, civil engineers, logging engineers, foresters and leaders of operational activities under difficult terrain conditions. The content in the book is based on more than 35 years experience with practical winch and cable operations. As a leader of the Norwegian Institute of Forest Operations, the author has carried out research work in this field since 1947. The Institute is the owner of yarders, winches, cable cranes etc., and with its own cable crews the Institute operates as a contractor in its own research forests as well as in other state or privately owned forests throughout Norway. The research work also includes other cable crane operations in Norway and other countries. As the leader of the Joint FAO/ECE/ILO Study Group on Mechanized Forest Operations the author studied cable operations in most of the Eastern and Western European countries. As president of the International Union of Forestry Research Organizations the author visited most forest countries in the world. Information from research and practical cable crane operations were collected. The handbook is based on material on winch and cable systems used in Japan, New Zealand, Soviet Union, Central Europe, Northern Europe, Eastern United States, Western United States and British Columbia.
