Book Color Aerial Photography

Download or read book Color Aerial Photography written by Richard S. Driscoll and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shrubs such as antelope bitterbrush, big sagebrush, snowberry, and true mountainmohogany can be identified more consistently on large-scale (1:600-1:1,200) color infrared aerial photographs than on the same scale color aerial photographs. Indentification of relatively large forbs, including Fremont geranium and orange sneezeweed, is also easier on large scale color infrared. Neither film type appeared to give improved information regarding site delineation on smaller scale photographs. Other features of the range environment, including rodent disturbances, can best be identified on color infrared at photo scales up to 1:2,400. All of this depends on obtaining photogrpaphs at the right time of year in respect to phenology of the vegetation.

Book Short Guide to Geo Botanical Surveying

Download or read book Short Guide to Geo Botanical Surveying written by S. V. Viktorov and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-01-31 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Series of Monographs on Pure and Applied Biology, Volume 8: Short Guide to Geo-Botanical Surveying focuses on the guide used in the geo-botanical surveying of pastures, bogs, and forests. The book first offers information on geo-botanical maps and plans and geo-botanical surveys. Discussions focus on the general features of geo-botanical maps and plans, classification of geo-botanical maps, transect surveys, auxiliary methods of investigation in geo-botanical surveys, and aero geo- botanical surveys. The text then examines geo-botanical surveys for forestry needs, including survey work in forest valuation, forest-typology surveys, and notes on interpretation of aerial photographs of forest vegetation. The publication ponders on geo-botanical surveys for the needs of the peat industry and agricultural reclamation of bogs and geo-botanical surveys for study of pastures. Topics include geo-botanical survey of bogs in connection with their agricultural reclamation; general information on geo-botanical surveys in bogs; features of surveys in semi-deserts and deserts; and features of surveys on the tundra. The text is a valuable source of data for readers interested in geo-botanical surveying.

Book Interpreting Aerial Photographs to Identify Natural Hazards

Download or read book Interpreting Aerial Photographs to Identify Natural Hazards written by Charles E. Glass and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-08-14 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Authored by a world-renowned aerial photography and remote sensing expert, Geographic Aerial Photography: Identifying Earth-Surface Hazards Through Image Interpretation is the most practical and authoritative reference available for any professional or student looking for a reference on how to recognize, analyze, interpret and avoid – or successfully plan for – dangerous contingencies. Whether they are related to natural terrain, geology, vegetation, hydrology or land use patterns – it’s critical for you to be able to recognize dangerous conditions when and where they exist. Failure to adequately recognize and characterize geomorphic, geologic, and hydrologic dangers on the ground using aerial photography is one of the major factors contributing to due to natural hazards and disasters, damage to architectural structures, and often the subsequent loss of human life as a result. Aerial photographs provide one of the most prevalent, inexpensive and under-utilized tools to those with the knowledge and expertise to interpret them. Authored by one of the world’s experts in aerial photography and remote sensing, with more than 35 years of experience in research and instruction Features more than 100 color photographs to vividly explore the fundamental principles of aerial photography Chapter tables underscore key concepts including channel size and shape characteristics, image scales, reverse fault values, and strike-slip fault systems
