Book Aeration of Grain in Commercial Storages Classic Reprint

Download or read book Aeration of Grain in Commercial Storages Classic Reprint written by Leo E. Holman and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-14 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Aeration of Grain in Commercial Storages The fan horsepower required for aeration varies with the kind of grain, its stored depth, and the airflow rate per bushel. One horsepower will aerate up to bushels of shelled corn 20 feet deep at 3-50 Cfm per bushel. The same horse power will aerate only about bushels of wheat 100 feet deep at the same airflow rate. Cooling clean grain having an initial tempera ture of 75 to 100 F., where considerable evapora tive cooling takes place, requires from 1 to 2 days aeration time at cfm per bushel; 3 to 4 days at %o cfm per bushel; 6 to 8 days at lie cfm per bushel; and 15 to 18 days at %o Cfm per bushel. Cooling grain having an initial temperature of 75 F. And below, where little evaporative cooling takes place, may require twice the aeration time given above. Total aeration time depends on the number of cooling stages. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. This book was released on 2018-01-14 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Operating Grain Aeration Systems in the Southeast The amount of time required to cool grain in the fall and winter varies with the airflow rate used. Tests in the Southeast indicate that when the airflow rate is halved, about 50 percent more time is required. Book Operating Grain Aeration Systems in the Hard Winter Wheat Area Classic Reprint

Download or read book Operating Grain Aeration Systems in the Hard Winter Wheat Area Classic Reprint written by Gerald L. Kline and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Operating Grain Aeration Systems in the Hard Winter Wheat Area Grain temperatures following aeration in the Hard Winter 711eat area usually are 85° F. In summer, 65° F. In fall, and 45° F. In winter. In aeration applications, air temperatures between a high limit and a low limit (see definition of terms) are selected. High-limit temperatures in the Hard Tinter meat area usually are 85° F. In the summer, 70° F. In the fall, and 50° F. In the winter. Low-limit temperatures are not used in the summer and fall. For winter aeration, low limit temperatures selected are dependent on the available airflow rate. Satisfactory high limits for relative humidity are 90 percent in the sum mer and fall and 80 percent in the winter. Auto matic controls are essential to most aeration sys tems, to restrict fan operation to periods when air temperature and relative humidity are within the selected range. Weather records were analyzed to find the num ber of hours available for fan operation. Selected temperature and relative humidity limits were evaluated for six locations in the Hard Winter Wheat area. The hours available were recorded for each month during a 10-year period, 1950 through 1959. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Grain Structure and Grain Storage The cereal grain kernel consists of the true seed plus outer protective layers which are called the pericarp. The pericarp is, roughly speaking, the bran; however, in some milling operations not all of the pericarp is removed, while in others, the bran contains some endosperm, (aleurone and even sometimes horny endosperm) attached to the pericarp. Book The Socio Economics of Roman Storage

Download or read book The Socio Economics of Roman Storage written by Astrid Van Oyen and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2020-05-14 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a pre-industrial world, storage could make or break farmers and empires alike. How did it shape the Roman empire? The Socio-Economics of Roman Storage cuts across the scales of farmer and state to trace the practical and moral reverberations of storage from villas in Italy to silos in Gaul, and from houses in Pompeii to warehouses in Ostia. Following on from the material turn, an abstract notion of 'surplus' makes way for an emphasis on storage's material transformations (e.g. wine fermenting; grain degrading; assemblages forming), which actively shuffle social relations and economic possibilities, and are a sensitive indicator of changing mentalities. This archaeological study tackles key topics, including the moral resonance of agricultural storage; storage as both a shared and a contested concern during and after conquest; the geography of knowledge in domestic settings; the supply of the metropolis of Rome; and the question of how empires scale up. It will be of interest to scholars and students of Roman archaeology and history, as well as anthropologists who study the links between the scales of farmer and state.
