Download or read book Advising on research methods written by Herman J. Ader and published by Johannes van Kessel Publishing. This book was released on 2013-07-05 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More information: www.jvank.nl/ARMSelected Advising on research methods: Selected topics 2012 results from a research master course Methodological Advice that was given at the University of Amsterdam, fall 2012 by Don Mellenbergh and Herman Adèr. The objectives of this course were: (a) to acquire methodological knowledge that is needed for advising researchers in the behavioral and social sciences, and (b) to get experience with methodological consultancy. The main material for the course was the book: Advising on research methods: a consultant's companion by Herman J. Adèr and Gideon J. Mellenbergh (with contributions by David J. Hand). The students had to fulfill various assignments, one of which was to write a paper on a topic that may come up during methodological consultancy. In the beginning of the course, paper topics were selected from a list of relevant methodological issues. The publication process of drafting, submitting, reviewing, adapting and correcting was the same as in the production of any other edited paper collection.

Book Counteracting Methodological Errors in Behavioral Research

Download or read book Counteracting Methodological Errors in Behavioral Research written by Gideon J. Mellenbergh and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-05-16 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes methods to prevent avoidable errors and to correct unavoidable ones within the behavioral sciences. A distinguishing feature of this work is that it is accessible to students and researchers of substantive fields of the behavioral sciences and related fields (e.g., health sciences and social sciences). Discussed are methods for errors that come from human and other factors, and methods for errors within each of the aspects of empirical studies. This book focuses on how empirical research is threatened by different types of error, and how the behavioral sciences in particular are vulnerable due to the study of human behavior and human participation in studies. Methods to counteract errors are discussed in depth including how they can be applied in all aspects of empirical studies: sampling of participants, design and implementation of the study, instrumentation and operationalization of theoretical variables, analysis of the data, and reporting of the study results. Students and researchers of methodology, psychology, education, and statistics will find this book to be particularly valuable. Methodologists can use the book to advice clients on methodological issues of substantive research.

Book Research Paradigm Considerations for Emerging Scholars

Download or read book Research Paradigm Considerations for Emerging Scholars written by Anja Pabel and published by Channel View Publications. This book was released on 2021-05-12 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides insights into the lived experiences of researchers as they negotiate the undulating terrain of the world of paradigms and seek to find their niche. Each chapter presents the journeys of postgraduate candidates, early career researchers and established scholars, starting with an overview of their paradigm, the application of the paradigm to their specific research context, and concluding with the authors reflecting on their identification with and use of the paradigm. The volume acknowledges that determining the paradigm that best aligns with a scholar’s personal ideologies and the underlying assumptions of the research can be rather daunting, challenging and perplexing to scholars who are starting their research journey. It offers an accessible exploration of research paradigms and will be a valuable resource for postgraduate researchers, emerging scholars and PhD supervisors.

Download or read book Neutrosophic Sets and Systems Vol 37 2020 Special issue Impact of neutrosophy in solving the Latin American s social problems written by Florentin Smarandache and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main objective of this special issue is to divulge the applicability of the Neutrosophic Theory and to explore the possibilities and advantages of neutrosophic tools, through both the presentation of thorough research and case studies in solving social problems in Latin America. The best presentations discussed at the III International Congress of Educational Research and University Innovation, turned into papers, show us the capacity for socialization of neutrosophic knowledge and its link with this science of validation and consolidation of scientific knowledge. This publication with authors from 11 countries that we place in the hands of the international scientific community, constitutes an example of how in Latin America the Neutrosophy is contributing to complex solutions based on the results of scientific research carried out by teachers and students committed to the social responsibility of continuing to progress for the benefit of humanity.

Book Economics of Grids Clouds Systems and Services

Download or read book Economics of Grids Clouds Systems and Services written by Jörn Altmann and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-08-27 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The commercial exploitation of distributed computing technologies is slowly starting to become popular under the general area of cloud computing. These solutions allow selling and buying of resources (i.e., computing, network, software, and data resources) on demand. Existing solutions in this area are diverse, ranging from Infrastructure-- a-Service (IaaS) models via Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) models. Although the economics of these services is not yet fully understood and the interoperability between such services is still lacking, a common market for computing services is slowly developing. Such a market would allow buyers and sellers of computing services to trade their excess capacity or make available their capacity at a cost. However, it is still not p- sible for a market participant to act as a resource provider or seller, or trade based on the current level of demand. Another example of a developing open market is the emergence of Web2.0-based services. These enable consumers to create new services by aggregating services from multiple providers. The benefit of these solutions is that “value” can be created by combining services at different prices.
