This book was released on 2008 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Seventh-day Adventist Church was founded upon an apocalyptic message that needed to be preached to the entire worldimmediately and at any cost. But does the church today preach that same message with the same urgency? Has the Adventist Church become irrelevant because it has sought to be more relevant to the world? Knight challenges us to go back to our roots, to examine the prophecies that fueled the early Seventh-day Adventists' determination to evangelize the world.

Book Adventism and the American Republic

Download or read book Adventism and the American Republic written by Douglas Morgan and published by Univ. of Tennessee Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Adventism and the American Republic tells how their convictions led Adventist adherents to become champions of religious liberty and the separation of church and state - all in the interest of delaying the fulfillment of a prophecy that foresees the abolition of most freedoms. Through publication of Liberty magazine, lobbying of legislatures, and pressing court cases, Adventists have been libertarian activists for more than a century, and in recent times this stance has translated into strong resistance to the political agendas of Christian conservatives." "Drawing on Adventist writings that have never been incorporated into a scholarly study, Morgan shows how the movement has struggled successfully to maintain its identifying beliefs - with some modifications - and how their sectarian exclusiveness and support of liberty has led to some tensions and inconsistencies."--BOOK JACKET.

Dr. Kelly explains how he was tricked into joining. He then refutes the theological fiasco called the Investigative Judgment which created the sect. Much of the book looks at the Sabbath with fresh insight. The final part reveals the mysterious realms of Sheol and Hades in order to expose SDA error about the soul. Russell Kelly is also the author of Should the Church Teach Tithing? A Theologian's Conclusions about a Taboo Doctrine-a best seller on Amazon.com under "Tithing" since 2001.

Book Profile of a Religious Man

Download or read book Profile of a Religious Man written by Edwin Zackrison and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-11-11 with total page 810 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a "journey book." Sitting down at a computer and producing the story has been a grand trek. I have learned that there is a principle in nature that some things need to mellow, calm down, and soak in. The refusal of winemakers to take a wine before its time is a notion I am coming to understand. It works with writers as well. Like a fetus signaling its mother that it is time to head for the hospital, a literary work stays in the mind until its time. In my education, I have read of the battles of great Church leaders who were eventually thrown out of their churches. In my denominational education, I was largely led to see them as heretics, rebels, eccentrics, revolutionaries, apostates, and as generally representing a lower form of spirituality. Church education often asked me to surrender my biases in favor of accepting a new set of assumptions--my denominational ones. We were to be critical of everything except our organization. I submit that there is danger in that. This book will cover incidents from the first forty years of my life as a religious addict. You may find something here that you can identify with.

Download or read book Truth Led Me Out written by Dale Ratzlaff and published by Life Assurance Ministries. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In Truth Lead Me Out, Ratzlaff shares his personal journey from being a conservative, staunch believer in the writings of Ellen White and the Seventh-day Adventism church as the 'true, remnant church of Bible prophecy' to simply being a Christian. The gripping, narrative writing style allows the reader to enter into the task of the evaluation of the discovered evidence and the emotional trauma of having to choose between conscience and the financial rewards of the status quo and the predicted damnation for leaving the church. Knowing well the history of Adventism and how its leaders have either tarnished or rewritten the history of those who have made public its errors, Ratzlaff includes names, places, conversations, events and information for the sake of history. This book is for those who wish to better understand Adventism. It gives an inside look at the workings of the church which outwardly appears to be a truth-seeking church and still presents itself as the only, true, 'remnant church of Bible Prophecy.'" -- BACK COVER.

Book The A to Z of the Seventh Day Adventists

Download or read book The A to Z of the Seventh Day Adventists written by Gary Land and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2009-07-29 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Covering the Millerite movement of the 1830s and 1840s, sabbatarian Adventism prior to organization of the denomination, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church since its organization in 1861-63, this volume provides a comprehensive history of the denomination. The first major element of the book is a chronology of Adventist history that begins with William Miller's conclusion in 1818 that the Second Advent of Jesus would occur about 1843 and extends through the Science and Theology Conferences of 2002-04. The interpretive introduction that follows places the emergence of Adventism within the context of the Second Great Awakening, describes the development of sabbatarian Adventism from its early opposition to church organization to its highly institutionalized and bureaucratically structured contemporary form, and examines the denomination's geographical expansion from a small North American sect to a global church. The dictionary entries that constitute the bulk of the volume address individuals, organizations, institutions, and doctrines that have been important in the history of the church, including dissident movements and individuals who have emerged as critics of the denomination and its beliefs. Second, there are entries on the development and current situation of Adventism in many individual countries. Finally, thematic entries on such subjects as art, music, literature, health care, and women address other elements important to understanding church life. The dictionary entries are followed by a bibliography of scholarly and popular works published by the denomination, commercial and academic presses, and individuals and organizations.

Book Adventism Re examined 75 Years of Changes Challenges and Choices

Download or read book Adventism Re examined 75 Years of Changes Challenges and Choices written by Gordon Kainer and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-11-13 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My book's objective is to describe the beliefs, practices, and ventures of the Adventist church that have had or still have a significant impact on my life. Looking back, I now have a better understanding why ancient Israel was repeatedly told to remember what God had done for them. For this reason, there will be much reminiscing, retelling of personal experiences, and evaluating church teachings and decisions, all in the endeavor to make sense of what has happened. That can only take place if we bathe our words and expressions in grace, love and understanding. The book endeavors to answer the underlying question: what do we mean when we use the term "church"? What are the primary reasons for its existence? When you ask Adventists such a question, we hope they answer with a reply that is inspiring and practical. In presenting my view of Adventism over the past seventy-five years, it's had a positive effect on my knowing and understanding Jesus-and I hope the same goes for you!
