Download or read book Advanced and Optimization Based Sliding Mode Control Theory and Applications written by Antonella Ferrara and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2019-07-01 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compendium of the authors’ recently published results, this book discusses sliding mode control of uncertain nonlinear systems, with a particular emphasis on advanced and optimization based algorithms. The authors survey classical sliding mode control theory and introduce four new methods of advanced sliding mode control. They analyze classical theory and advanced algorithms, with numerical results complementing the theoretical treatment. Case studies examine applications of the algorithms to complex robotics and power grid problems. Advanced and Optimization Based Sliding Mode Control: Theory and Applications is the first book to systematize the theory of optimization based higher order sliding mode control and illustrate advanced algorithms and their applications to real problems. It presents systematic treatment of event-triggered and model based event-triggered sliding mode control schemes, including schemes in combination with model predictive control, and presents adaptive algorithms as well as algorithms capable of dealing with state and input constraints. Additionally, the book includes simulations and experimental results obtained by applying the presented control strategies to real complex systems. Book Autonomous Robots

Download or read book Autonomous Robots written by George A. Bekey and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2005-05-20 with total page 595 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An introduction to the science and practice of autonomous robots that reviews over 300 current systems and examines the underlying technology. Autonomous robots are intelligent machines capable of performing tasks in the world by themselves, without explicit human control. Examples range from autonomous helicopters to Roomba, the robot vacuum cleaner. In this book, George Bekey offers an introduction to the science and practice of autonomous robots that can be used both in the classroom and as a reference for industry professionals. He surveys the hardware implementations of more than 300 current systems, reviews some of their application areas, and examines the underlying technology, including control, architectures, learning, manipulation, grasping, navigation, and mapping. Living systems can be considered the prototypes of autonomous systems, and Bekey explores the biological inspiration that forms the basis of many recent developments in robotics. He also discusses robot control issues and the design of control architectures. After an overview of the field that introduces some of its fundamental concepts, the book presents background material on hardware, control (from both biological and engineering perspectives), software architecture, and robot intelligence. It then examines a broad range of implementations and applications, including locomotion (wheeled, legged, flying, swimming, and crawling robots), manipulation (both arms and hands), localization, navigation, and mapping. The many case studies and specific applications include robots built for research, industry, and the military, among them underwater robotic vehicles, walking machines with four, six, and eight legs, and the famous humanoid robots Cog, Kismet, ASIMO, and QRIO. The book concludes with reflections on the future of robotics—the potential benefits as well as the possible dangers that may arise from large numbers of increasingly intelligent and autonomous robots.

Book Feedback Control of MEMS to Atoms

Download or read book Feedback Control of MEMS to Atoms written by Jason J. Gorman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-12-17 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Control from MEMS to Atoms illustrates the use of control and control systems as an essential part of functioning integrated systems. The book is organized according to the dimensional scale of the problem, starting with micro-scale systems and ending with atomic-scale systems. Similar to macro-scale machines and processes, control systems can play a major role in improving the performance of micro- and nano-scale systems and in enabling new capabilities that would otherwise not be possible. However, the majority of problems at these scales present many new challenges that go beyond the current state-of-the-art in control engineering. This is a result of the multidisciplinary nature of micro/nanotechnology, which requires the merging of control engineering with physics, biology and chemistry.
