Book Knobil and Neill s Physiology of Reproduction

Download or read book Knobil and Neill s Physiology of Reproduction written by Tony M. Plant and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-11-15 with total page 2708 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fourth Edition of Knobil & Neill continues to serve as a reference aid for research, to provide the historical context to current research, and most importantly as an aid for graduate teaching on a broad range of topics in human and comparative reproduction. In the decade since the publication of the last edition, the study of reproductive physiology has undergone monumental changes. Chief among these advances are in the areas of stem cell development, signaling pathways, the role of inflammation in the regulatory processes in the various tissues, and the integration of new animal models which have led to a greater understanding of human disease. The new edition synthesizes all of this new information at the molecular, cellular, and organismal levels of organization and present modern physiology a more understandable and comparative context. - The Fourth Edition has been extensively revised, reflecting new fundamental advancements in this rapidly advancing field. - Provides a common language for researchers across the fields of physiology, endocrinology, and biology to discuss their understanding of reproduction. - Saves academic researchers time in quickly accessing the very latest details on reproductive physiology, as opposed to searching through thousands of journal articles.

Book Recent Advances in the Physiology of Motion the Senses Generation and Development

Download or read book Recent Advances in the Physiology of Motion the Senses Generation and Development written by William Baly and published by . This book was released on 2015-08-05 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Recent Advances in the Physiology of Motion, the Senses, Generation and Development: Being a Supplement to the Second Volume Professor Muller's "Elements of Physiology;" At an early period after the publication of the last part of the English edition of Professor Muller's Physiology, it became necessary to reprint the second volume of the work; a second edition of the first volume having already been issued. The second volume did not then need complete revision and re-editing; it was therefore reprinted with only a few verbal alterations. But it was determined that, after a certain lapse of time, there should follow a Supplement or Appendix, containing later information on the subjects treated of in the most important portion of the volume, namely, that portion comprising the Physiology of Generation and Development; and reference was made to such an Appendix in several pages of the reprinted volume. In accordance with this plan, I was occupied during part of the winter of 1815-6, with preparing an account of the advances made in the course of the previous three years in the departments of science just named, but other unavoidable engagements interrupted my progress with the undertaking at that time, and subsequently prevented me from resuming it. The project, however, could not well be relinquished. Finding, therefore, a few months since, that I still was not able to command the requisite leisure, I proposed to Messrs. Taylor and Walton that Dr. Kirkes should be requested to lend his aid towards the immediate completion of the work, a proposal to which they readily acceded. And Dr. Kirkes very kindly consented to render the assistance required, although himself engaged in the preparation of a separate Treatise on Physiology. It has been found advisable to extend the original plan of the present work, and to make it supplementary to the entire second volume of Professor Muller's Elements of Physiology, by including an account of the more important advances in the Physiology of Motion and of the Senses.
