Download or read book Surface Acoustic Wave SAW Oscillator Investigation written by TRW SYSTEMS GROUP REDONDO BEACH CALIF. and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This final report describes the results of the development, fabrication, evaluation and test performed by TRW Systems. The main purpose of the SAW oscillator program was to investigate the key performance parameters of SAW oscillators and particularly their short, medium and long term stability. SAW oscillators were fabricated to operate at 250 MHz and 500 MHz, and their performance was evaluated and compared against theoretical predictions. As the data presented in the following sections will show, the performance of these oscillators closely approaches or exceeds the currently reported state-of-the-art in nearly every respect. Perhaps even more important, this performance is related to the fabrication processes in such a way that directions for still better performance can be clearly seen.

Book Surface Acoustic Wave Filters

Download or read book Surface Acoustic Wave Filters written by David Morgan and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2010-07-27 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface Acoustic Wave Filters gives the fundamental principles and device design techniques for surface acoustic wave filters. It covers the devices in widespread use today: bandpass and pulse compression filters, correlators and non-linear convolvers and resonators. The newest technologies for low bandpass filters are fully covered such as unidirectional transducers, resonators in impedance element filters, resonators in double-mode surface acoustic wave filters and transverse-coupled resonators using waveguides. The book covers the theory of acoustic wave physics, the piezoelectric effect, electrostatics at a surface, effective permittivity, piezoelectric SAW excitation and reception, and the SAW element factor. These are the main requirements for developing quasi-static theory, which gives a basis for the non-reflective transducers in transversal bandpass filters and interdigital pulse compression filters. It is also needed for the reflective transducers used in the newer devices. A thorough revision of a classic on surface acoustic wave filters first published in 1985 and still in print Uniquely combines easy-to-understand principles with practical design techniques for all the devices in widespread use today Complete coverage of all the latest devices which are key to mobile phones, TVs and radar systems Includes a new foreword by Sir Eric Albert Ash

Book SAW Oscillator Investigations Crystal Rotation Saw Oscillator Aging

Download or read book SAW Oscillator Investigations Crystal Rotation Saw Oscillator Aging written by TRW DEFENSE AND SPACE SYSTEMS GROUP REDONDO BEACH CALIF. and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This final report describes the results of two surface acoustic wave oscillator studies. The first study demonstrated a new technique for varying the frequency of operation of SAW delay lines. The second study continued the ongoing aging test of four 250 MHz oscillators which was started in July 1975, and measured the aging rate of a new pair of oscillators fabricated using SAW delay lines with chrome/gold metallization. Future high performance communication systems will require frequency sources at UHF and microwave frequencies. SAW oscillators offer several advantages over bulk crystal oscillator multiplier chain type sources. The higher fundamental frequency capability of the SAW device eliminates the need for a multiplier chain, thus reducing size, weight, and power while providing superior phase noise characterisitics.

Book Surface Acoustic Wave Devices

Download or read book Surface Acoustic Wave Devices written by Valeri G. Dneprovski and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface acoustic waves (SAWs) demonstrate simplicity of their excitation and receipt, as well as their availability to all propagation ways of signal branching and processing. SAW devices are divided into several main classes: filters for signal processing at intermediate frequencies, delay lines, resonators, filters with low losses for the input circuits of receiver, and antenna duplexers for the connected receivers. The SAW devices are not only able to conduct an effective signal processing, but also serve as a basis for multi-subsystems (matched filtering, signal processing, real-time Fourier transform processors, etc.). Additionally, SAW filters help scientists to realise the wide variety of frequency characteristics. Besides their unique electrical characteristics, SAW devices favorably differ from their analogs in small size, mechanical strength and high reliability, due to the quality of raw materials and their processing. The use of the photolithography and the achievements of group microelectronic technology in their production allow a researcher to achieve good reproducibility of parameters at relatively low cost. In addition, currently SAW devices are widely used in various sensors based on the SAW radio frequency identification. This book presents an attempt to generalise a multi-year experience on R&D of SAW devices. It develops original approaches directed at discovering solutions of technical problems, as development of various SAW devices are patented in Russia. Moreover, the book presents some experimental and theoretical research results.

Book Acceleration Sensitivity and Mode Shape Relationship Tests of Voltage Controlled Surface Acoustic Wave Oscillator

Download or read book Acceleration Sensitivity and Mode Shape Relationship Tests of Voltage Controlled Surface Acoustic Wave Oscillator written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acceleration sensitivity continues to be a significant problem is SAW oscillators. Reducing acceleration sensitivity of SAW oscillators requires an understanding of the nature and causes of acceleration sensitivity. One aspect of this is the correlation between acceleration sensitivity and the transverse mode behavior of SAW resonators. This report discusses the experimental investigation of such a correlation. A 98.5 MHz SAW resonator, for which the transverse modes have been previously measured at various frequencies, was mounted in a VCO and submitted to acceleration sensitivity tests at the frequencies of known transverse mode behavior. The VCO was designed in-house specifically for this investigation. The experimental results indicate that the acceleration sensitivity ot SAW resonators does not strongly depend on the transverse mode behavior. Acceleration sensitivity; mode shape; surface acoustic wave oscillator; voltage controlled oscillator.

Book Investigation of Shallow Bulk Acoustic Waves

Download or read book Investigation of Shallow Bulk Acoustic Waves written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This final report summarizes the most important results of the Investigation of Shallow Bulk Acoustic Waves (SBAW) program. This program was conceived on the principle that SBAW technology could lead to devices that are superior to those presently available for frequency filtering and control. The primary objective was to establish whether this technology could provide devices that were as stable as the low frequency bulk wave resonators and yet operate at frequencies higher than the surface acoustic wave devices. The investigations have shown that SBAW devices can be built with excellent temperature stability, low spurious modes and at frequencies higher than those of SAW devices and bulk wave resonators.
