Book Modulation and Coding Techniques in Wireless Communications

Download or read book Modulation and Coding Techniques in Wireless Communications written by Evgenii Krouk and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-02-21 with total page 691 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The high level of technical detail included in standards specifications can make it difficult to find the correlation between the standard specifications and the theoretical results. This book aims to cover both of these elements to give accessible information and support to readers. It explains the current and future trends on communication theory and shows how these developments are implemented in contemporary wireless communication standards. Examining modulation, coding and multiple access techniques, the book is divided into two major sections to cover these functions. The two-stage approach first treats the basics of modulation and coding theory before highlighting how these concepts are defined and implemented in modern wireless communication systems. Part 1 is devoted to the presentation of main L1 procedures and methods including modulation, coding, channel equalization and multiple access techniques. In Part 2, the uses of these procedures and methods in the wide range of wireless communication standards including WLAN, WiMax, WCDMA, HSPA, LTE and cdma2000 are considered. An essential study of the implementation of modulation and coding techniques in modern standards of wireless communication Bridges the gap between the modulation coding theory and the wireless communications standards material Divided into two parts to systematically tackle the topic - the first part develops techniques which are then applied and tailored to real world systems in the second part Covers special aspects of coding theory and how these can be effectively applied to improve the performance of wireless communications systems

Book Coded Modulation Techniques for Fading Channels

Download or read book Coded Modulation Techniques for Fading Channels written by Seyed Hamidreza Jamali and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1994-04-30 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past decade there has been a proliferation of research in the area of bandwidth-efficient coded-modulation techniques. The primary advantage of these schemes over modulation schemes employing traditional error correcting codes is their ability to improve the performance of the communication system without bandwidth expansion. This property makes them a suitable choice for channels which are limited in both power and bandwidth.

Book Channel Coding Techniques for Wireless Communications

Download or read book Channel Coding Techniques for Wireless Communications written by K. Deergha Rao and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-03-26 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book discusses modern channel coding techniques for wireless communications such as turbo codes, low parity check codes (LDPC), space-time coding, Reed Solomon (RS) codes and convolutional codes. Many illustrative examples are included in each chapter for easy understanding of the coding techniques. The text is integrated with MATLAB-based programs to enhance the understanding of the subject’s underlying theories. It includes current topics of increasing importance such as turbo codes, LDPC codes, LT codes, Raptor codes and space-time coding in detail, in addition to the traditional codes such as cyclic codes, BCH and RS codes and convolutional codes. MIMO communications is a multiple antenna technology, which is an effective method for high-speed or high-reliability wireless communications. PC-based MATLAB m-files for the illustrative examples are included and also provided on the accompanying CD, which will help students and researchers involved in advanced and current concepts in coding theory. Channel coding, the core of digital communication and data storage, has undergone a major revolution as a result of the rapid growth of mobile and wireless communications. The book is divided into 11 chapters. Assuming no prior knowledge in the field of channel coding, the opening chapters (1 - 2) begin with basic theory and discuss how to improve the performance of wireless communication channels using channel coding. Chapters 3 and 4 introduce Galois fields and present detailed coverage of BCH codes and Reed-Solomon codes. Chapters 5–7 introduce the family of convolutional codes, hard and soft-decision Viterbi algorithms, turbo codes, BCJR algorithm for turbo decoding and studies trellis coded modulation (TCM), turbo trellis coded modulation (TTCM), bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) as well as iterative BICM (BICM-ID) and compares them under various channel conditions. Chapters 8 and 9 focus on low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, LT codes and Raptor codes. Chapters 10 and 11 discuss MIMO systems and space-time (ST) coding.

Book Wireless Physical Layer Network Coding

Download or read book Wireless Physical Layer Network Coding written by Jan Sykora and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2018-02-15 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover a fresh approach for designing more efficient and cooperative wireless communications networks with this systematic guide. Covering everything from fundamental theory to current research topics, leading researchers describe a new, network-aware coding strategy that exploits the signal interactions that occur in dense wireless networks directly at the waveform level. Using an easy-to-follow, layered structure, this unique text begins with a gentle introduction for those new to the subject, before moving on to explain key information-theoretic principles and establish a consistent framework for wireless physical layer network coding (WPNC) strategies. It provides a detailed treatment of Network Coded Modulation, covers a range of WPNC techniques such as Noisy Network Coding, Compute and Forward, and Hierarchical Decode and Forward, and explains how WPNC can be applied to parametric fading channels, frequency selective channels, and complex stochastic networks. This is essential reading whether you are a researcher, graduate student, or professional engineer.

Book Joint Space Time Coded Modulation and Channel Coding Over Fading Channels with Cochannel Interference

Download or read book Joint Space Time Coded Modulation and Channel Coding Over Fading Channels with Cochannel Interference written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this report we study, design and evaluate the performance of space-time systems over fading wireless channels. We present a new method to derive closed-form expressions for the exact bit error probability for optimum combining (OC). Our method differs from previous approaches in that it starts from the decision metrics of OC instead of the moment generating function. This approach facilitates obtaining closed-form expressions. With these expressions for BEP, evaluating the performance of OC is easy and accurate. We propose a noncoherent detection scheme in which the channel gain of the desired signal is unknown to the receiver. The maximum likelihood decision statistic is derived for the detector and its performance is demonstrated by analysis and simulation. To reduce the computation complexity of the decision statistic, we present a sub-optimum decision feedback algorithm for iterative symbol detection. We also develop another noncoherent detection scheme, where the only required channel information is the channel amplitude of the interference. It is shown that when the interference level is high, this detection technique can achieve good performance.
