  • ISBN : 9780135616192
  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book Macroeconomics written by Stephen D. Williamson and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This text follows a modern approach to macroeconomics by building macroeconomic models from microeconomic principles. As such, it is consistent with the way that macroeconomic research is conducted today. This approach has three advantages. First, it allows deeper insights into economic growth processes and business cycles, the key topics in macroeconomics. Second, an emphasis on microeconomic foundations better integrates the study of macroeconomics with approaches that students learn in microeconomics courses and in economics field courses. Learning in macroeconomics and microeconomics thus becomes mutually reinforcing, and students learn more. Third, in following an approach to macroeconomics that is consistent with current macroeconomic research, students will be better prepared for advanced study in economics."--

Book Teaching and Learning of Calculus

Download or read book Teaching and Learning of Calculus written by David Bressoud and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-06-14 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This survey focuses on the main trends in the field of calculus education. Despite their variety, the findings reveal a cornerstone issue that is strongly linked to the formalism of calculus concepts and to the difficulties it generates in the learning and teaching process. As a complement to the main text, an extended bibliography with some of the most important references on this topic is included. Since the diversity of the research in the field makes it difficult to produce an exhaustive state-of-the-art summary, the authors discuss recent developments that go beyond this survey and put forward new research questions.

Book Foundations of Organisational Economics

Download or read book Foundations of Organisational Economics written by Paul Walker and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Foundations of Organisational Economics: Histories and Theories of the Firm and Production delves into a range of key topics to do with the history of the mainstream approach to the theory of production and the theory of the firm. This includes the frameworks used to analyse production, the division of labour and its application to the firm and the development of the neoclassical model of production. The first topic explored in the work is the change from a normative approach to a largely positive approach to the analysis of the theory of production, which occurred around the 17th century. The next topic is an examination of the relationship (or the lack of a relationship) between the division of labour and the theory of the firm. In the fourth chapter, the work goes on to focus on the development of the proto-neoclassical approach to production. Here, the development of the theories of monopoly, oligopoly and perfect competition are discussed as well as the theory of input utilisation. Chapter five looks at Marshall's idea of the representative firm, which was the main early neoclassical approach to the theory of industry-level production. The penultimate chapter considers the criticisms made of the neoclassical model between 1940 and 1970. This work is an illuminating reference for students and researchers of the history of economic thought, industrial organization, microeconomic theory, and organizational studies. Paul Walker is an Economist based in Christchurch, New Zealand. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. His research is mainly to do with the history of economic thought and the theory of the firm. He is author of "The Theory of the Firm: An Overview of the economic mainstream" and "A Brief Prehistory of the Theory of the Firm", both published by Routledge"--
