The subsystems comprise of aerospace bearings, thermal control, life support, power, communications, etc. It focuses on designing, assembling, developing and testing aircraft and aerospace products. The aim of this field is to assess the cost and feasibility, determine quality standards, and examine malfunction and damage. This book discusses the fundamentals as well as modern approaches of aerospace engineering. Also included herein is a detailed explanation of the various concepts and applied principles of aerospace engineering. It is a vital tool for all researching and studying in this field.

Book Advanced Aircraft Design

Download or read book Advanced Aircraft Design written by Egbert Torenbeek and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-05-28 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the overall appearance of modern airliners has not changed a lot since the introduction of jetliners in the 1950s, their safety, efficiency and environmental friendliness have improved considerably. Main contributors to this have been gas turbine engine technology, advanced materials, computational aerodynamics, advanced structural analysis and on-board systems. Since aircraft design became a highly multidisciplinary activity, the development of multidisciplinary optimization (MDO) has become a popular new discipline. Despite this, the application of MDO during the conceptual design phase is not yet widespread. Advanced Aircraft Design: Conceptual Design, Analysis and Optimization of Subsonic Civil Airplanes presents a quasi-analytical optimization approach based on a concise set of sizing equations. Objectives are aerodynamic efficiency, mission fuel, empty weight and maximum takeoff weight. Independent design variables studied include design cruise altitude, wing area and span and thrust or power loading. Principal features of integrated concepts such as the blended wing and body and highly non-planar wings are also covered. The quasi-analytical approach enables designers to compare the results of high-fidelity MDO optimization with lower-fidelity methods which need far less computational effort. Another advantage to this approach is that it can provide answers to “what if” questions rapidly and with little computational cost. Key features: Presents a new fundamental vision on conceptual airplane design optimization Provides an overview of advanced technologies for propulsion and reducing aerodynamic drag Offers insight into the derivation of design sensitivity information Emphasizes design based on first principles Considers pros and cons of innovative configurations Reconsiders optimum cruise performance at transonic Mach numbers Advanced Aircraft Design: Conceptual Design, Analysis and Optimization of Subsonic Civil Airplanes advances understanding of the initial optimization of civil airplanes and is a must-have reference for aerospace engineering students, applied researchers, aircraft design engineers and analysts.

Book Advanced Concepts for Avionics Weapon System Design Development and Integration Conference Proceedings of the Avionics Panel Symposium 45th Held at Ottawa Canada on 18 22 April 1983

Download or read book Advanced Concepts for Avionics Weapon System Design Development and Integration Conference Proceedings of the Avionics Panel Symposium 45th Held at Ottawa Canada on 18 22 April 1983 written by ADVISORY GROUP FOR AEROSPACE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT NEUILLY-SUR-SEINE (France) and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this meeting is to exchange information and ideas among the various disciplines involved in weapon system design to the benefit of integrated system developments for future defense programs. As each new military aircraft design depends increasingly on avionics, the overall system becomes more versatile, but also more complex. In order to realize the benefits of advanced integration and to maintain compatible timescales throughout subsystems development and test phases, intelligent integrated design concepts and proper coordination of the development program are essential. Design and development concepts considered in this meeting are: Initiate design in terms of overall system to satisfy operational requirement; Conduct parallel design and development activities in all relevant disciplines; Retention of design and application flexibility and growth in subsystems by means of appropriate data processing and subsystem inter/intracommunications structure; Planning of logistic support elements including reliability, maintainability and supportability as well as life cycle cost considerations; and Comprehensive integrated ground testing prior to airborne evaluation of the weapon systems.

Book Advanced Principles of Avionics

Download or read book Advanced Principles of Avionics written by Sam Dillon and published by States Academic Press. This book was released on 2021-11-16 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Avionics is the category of electronic systems that are used in aircraft, artificial satellites and spacecrafts. Avionic systems involve communication, navigation, and collision-avoidance system. It also includes the display and management of multiple systems that are fitted to aircraft to perform individual and specific functions. These functions can be simple as well as complex in nature. Communication system helps in connecting the flight deck to the passengers and the flight deck to the ground. Navigation systems help in calculating the position automatically and displaying it to the flight crew on moving map displays. Collision-avoidance system deals with air traffic control. It can detect the location of the nearby aircraft and provide instructions for avoiding a mid-air collision. This book aims to shed light on some of the advanced principles in the field of avionics. It strives to provide a fair idea about this discipline and to help develop a better understanding of the latest advances within this field. It is appropriate for students seeking detailed information in this area as well as for experts.
