Download or read book Reclaiming Rural written by Allen T. Stanton and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-05-15 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As rural America continues to undergo massive economic and demographic shifts, rural churches are uniquely positioned to provide community leadership. Leading a rural congregation requires a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing these communities, as well as a strong theological and community-focused identity. Allen T. Stanton describes how in establishing this identity, rural leaders build a meaningful and vital ministry. Reclaiming Rural explores the myths and realities of rural places, and how those common narratives impact the leadership of rural churches. Ultimately, rural congregations must practice a contextual understanding of vitality, which understands both the strengths and challenges of leading in a rural setting. Arguing for a practice of evangelism imbued with this mission of vitality, Reclaiming Rural promotes the church as a leader in economic and community development, modeled upon a Wesleyan theology of grace. Acknowledging the many challenges facing rural churches, this book is an energetic and encouraging guide to overcoming social and economic obstacles to build a thriving congregation.

Download or read book A Study on the Approach to the Christian Education for the Old Ministry in Sidong Church written by Ingyo Chung and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "While ministering in Sidong church, the author discovered a problem with an older adult ministry, which was common in rural churches that saw older adults as mere objects of welfare-level care. The author presented Christian education for older adults. Accordingly, the author attempted a project to conduct a senior citizen culture class, "Youth Hakdang", a worship service for older adults, and Silver Bible school. It is very important to have a Christian educational awareness of the elderly and gain the experience that the church will become more active when Korean churches work with an interest in the elderly problem." -- Leaf 2.

Book The Church As Learning Community

Download or read book The Church As Learning Community written by Norma Cook Everist and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2010-10-01 with total page 523 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Norma Cook Everist contends that it is meaningful to say that in ministries of administration, outreach, and pastoral care, the church is functioning as a learning community. Whenever and wherever Christians are being formed into the image of Jesus Christ through ministry, there Christian education is taking place. Christian education is the name we give to that process of formation. Building on this central insight, Everist has written a major new introduction to the tasks and practices of Christian education. Part 1 of the book focuses broadly on what it means to be the church in the world. Part 2 shows how being a learning community requires ongoing growth in faith throughout the span of life. Part 3 shifts focus to the church as it moves into the community and world.
