Download or read book Church History through the Eyes of Christ written by Rev. Norman Holmes and published by Zion Christian Publishers. This book was released on 2020-12-07 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rev. Norman Holmes shows us how Christ gave prophetic Scriptures to explain church history. The reader will see the awesome parallels between the seven parables in Matthew 13 and the seven letters to the churches in the book of Revelation to the history of the church. Within these passages of Scripture can be seen the planting of the church by the preaching of Christ and the apostles, as well as the growth and mixture that ensued, followed by the restoration of the church and the great harvest at the end of the age. Among the topics studied are: The growth, battles, and triumph of the Church How mixture and division entered Christianity The lives and exploits of mighty men of God How revivals started movements and denominations The Church’s completion of the Great Commission Preparing to reign with Christ in the Millennium
Download or read book Quid est sacramentum written by Walter Melion and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2019-10-07 with total page 692 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘Quid est sacramentum?’ Visual Representation of Sacred Mysteries in Early Modern Europe, 1400–1700 investigates how sacred mysteries (in Latin, sacramenta or mysteria) were visualized in a wide range of media, including illustrated religious literature such as catechisms, prayerbooks, meditative treatises, and emblem books, produced in Italy, France, and the Low Countries between ca. 1500 and 1700. The contributors ask why the mysteries of faith and, in particular, sacramental mysteries were construed as amenable to processes of representation and figuration, and why the resultant images were thought capable of engaging mortal eyes, minds, and hearts. Mysteries by their very nature appeal to the spirit, rather than to sense or reason, since they operate beyond the limitations of the human faculties; and yet, the visual and literary arts served as vehicles for the dissemination of these mysteries and for prompting reflection upon them. Contributors: David Areford, AnnMarie Micikas Bridges, Mette Birkedal Bruun, James Clifton, Anna Dlabačková, Wim François, Robert Kendrick, Aiden Kumler, Noria Litaker, Walter S. Melion, Lars Cyril Nørgaard, Elizabeth Pastan, Donna Sadler, Alexa Sand, Tanya Tiffany, Lee Palmer Wandel, Geert Warner, Bronwen Wilson, and Elliott Wise.

Dr. Caram also describes how we as believers are to be a part of the move of God in establishing His Kingdom here on earth and how it is Christ's church that will do the "greater works" because He has gone to His Father and sent us His Holy Spirit.

Download or read book Towards a Christian Tantra written by John R. Dupuche and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How is it possible to reconcile two facts which seem irreconcilable, and an immersion in the world of Tantra even to the point of initiation? This intriguing account describes an usual spiritual journey which responds honestly and deeply to this mysterious experience, of spirit and body, of discernment and grace, of divine energy and love in all its aspects, during the course of an adventure which links a person to what is essential, unveiling the whole scope, both cosmic and divine, of Life. The author shows how, beyond their obvious differences, the Christian themes of the Word which is expressed as an eternal I am, or of the divine Energy, find striking correspondences in the Tantra, allowing them to resonate together and enrich each other. This work, therefore, follows in the wake of other pioneers such as Henri Le Saux or Christian de Cherg as regards the dialogue with Hinduism and Islam. Conciousness is the Self because God is Love. The essence of tantra is Love.

Download or read book Sacred Repertories in Paris under Louis XIII written by Lewis Peter Bennett and published by Ashgate Publishing, Ltd.. This book was released on 2009 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of sacred music under Louis XIII (r.1610-43) has advanced little in the past hundred years. Despite some important recent contributions by the late Denise Launay and others, much of our current perception of the Latin sacred music of the period is still informed by the pioneering research undertaken by Henri Quittard in the early years of the twentieth century. By re-examining one of the seventeenth-century 'treasures' of the Bibliothèque nationale (MS Vma rés. 571), Sacred Repertories in Paris under Louis XIII reveals that, far from being a transitional period in which little music of any interest was produced, the reign of Louis XIII witnessed a flowering of musical activity and the development of musical techniques normally associated with the reign of Louis XIV.
