Book Adaptive Bandwidth Management for ATM based Broadband Networks

Download or read book Adaptive Bandwidth Management for ATM based Broadband Networks written by Dang Hai Hoang and published by Peter Lang Gmbh, Internationaler Verlag Der Wissenschaften. This book was released on 1999 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Supporting diverse applications with various Quality-of-Service guarantees in ATM-based broadband networks requires the design of a proper bandwidth control mechanism at the switch nodes. We proposed in this work a new adaptive approach to the bandwidth control and developed an Adaptive Bandwidth Scheduling Scheme, called CABS. Our scheme uses the laxity of cells and a combination of four priority types: space priority, time priority, cell loss priority and rate regulation. The novel concept facilitates achieving the desired design goals while enabling the flexible control and the lower complexity. The CABS scheme has further advantages, including isolation, fair and adaptive distribution of bandwidth. In order to give a complete solution, an integrated concept was proposed for bandwidth management, connection admission control and flow control. Several simulations were made to exemplify the service guarantees and other advantageous properties provided by the CABS scheme for the single node case and for a network configuration.

Book Quality of Service Support in an IP ATM Environment

Download or read book Quality of Service Support in an IP ATM Environment written by Huu Thanh Nguyen and published by Peter Lang Gmbh, Internationaler Verlag Der Wissenschaften. This book was released on 2002 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The evolution in networking technologies in the recent years has been driven by the development of such new multimedia applications as voice, video, graphics etc. If the Internet is to keep pace with the requirements of these applications, it is clear that Internet Service Providers must not only provide higher link capacities but also deploy more sophisticated service architectures. Another crucial task for building an Internet is the selection of a QoS-capable link layer. Asynchronous Transfer Mode could be the right support for the future Internet as it can deliver QoS to IP layer and has very high throughput. This book addresses some approaches to facilitate QoS guarantees in the Internet and to provide a flexible and scaleable environment for IP packets with differentiated QoS requirements over an ATM-based MPLS environment.

Book Computational Intelligence in Telecommunications Networks

Download or read book Computational Intelligence in Telecommunications Networks written by Witold Pedrycz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Telecommunications has evolved and grown at an explosive rate in recent years and will undoubtedly continue to do so. As its functions, applications, and technology grow, it becomes increasingly complex and difficult, if not impossible, to meet the demands of a global network using conventional computing technologies. Computational intelligence (CI) is the technology of the future-and the future is now. Computational Intelligence in Telecommunications Networks offers an in-depth look at the rapid progress of CI technology and shows its importance in solving the crucial problems of future telecommunications networks. It covers a broad range of topics, from Call Admission Control, congestion control, and QoS-routing for ATM networks, to network design and management, optical, mobile, and active networks, and Intelligent Mobile Agents. Today's telecommunications professionals need a working knowledge of CI to exploit its potential to overcome emerging challenges. The CI community must become acquainted with those challenges to take advantage of the enormous opportunities the telecommunications field offers. This text meets both those needs, clearly, concisely, and with a depth certain to inspire further theoretical and practical advances.

This book was released on 2006-12-15 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most conventional networks are passive, with only basic traffic monitoring, management, routing, and congestion control. At best, they can be called reactive. Deploying new functions and integrating new standards into these architectures is difficult due to the rigid embedding of software and hardware into the network components. Active and Program
