He emigrated in 1724 and settled in Massanutten, Page County, Virginia. He married Anna Barbara Koger (1716-1794), daughter of Josias Koger and Ann Lowen. They had four children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia, Missouri, Iowa and Louisiana.
