Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ada Generic Library provides an extensive well-documented library of generic packages whose use can substantially increase software productivity and reliability. The construction of the library follows a new approach whose principles include the following: - Extensive use of generic algorithms, such as generic sort and merge. - Building up functionality in layers. - Obtaining high efficiency in spite of the layering through the use of Ada's inline compiler directive. This volume contains eight Ada packages, with over 170 subprograms for various linear data structures based on linked lists. Professional Ada programmers will find The Ada Generic Library an invaluable tool in building application programs or in further construction of generic libraries. For these users the source code can be obtained on diskettes. The volume will also be useful to those interested in programming methodology, software reusability, and software engineering.

Book excerpt: Software Engineer's Reference Book provides the fundamental principles and general approaches, contemporary information, and applications for developing the software of computer systems. The book is comprised of three main parts, an epilogue, and a comprehensive index. The first part covers the theory of computer science and relevant mathematics. Topics under this section include logic, set theory, Turing machines, theory of computation, and computational complexity. Part II is a discussion of software development methods, techniques and technology primarily based around a conventional view of the software life cycle. Topics discussed include methods such as CORE, SSADM, and SREM, and formal methods including VDM and Z. Attention is also given to other technical activities in the life cycle including testing and prototyping. The final part describes the techniques and standards which are relevant in producing particular classes of application. Book The Modula 2 Software Component Library

Download or read book The Modula 2 Software Component Library written by Charles Lins and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the third and final volume in a series entitled "The Modula-2 Software Component Library." C. Lins' collection of reusable standard software components could be the basis for every programmer's software project in Modula-2. Components that are implementations of commonly used data structures are presented, along with a description of their functionality and efficiency. Moreover, the books provide the background necessary to tailor these components to the specific needs of any Modula-2 environment. For Modula-2 programmers, this series of books could prove as useful and indispensible as the original language reference by Niklaus Wirth. This third volume discusses the concepts of trees and graphs, shows their specifications, and provides implementations for various forms of trees and graphs.

Book Software Re use Utrecht 1989

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In November 1989 we organised a workshop on software re-use, inviting members of the leading research teams across Europe. In retrospect, we realise that we missed a few research teams out, but nevertheless we did have a very fruitful workshop. This book is the outcome of that meeting. Prior to the workshop, teams submitted short position papers, and at the workshop made very short presentations of these. Most of the time was spent in four parallel sessions, and the reports of these sessions are given in Chapter 2. After the workshop we invited the attendees to revise and resubmit their papers in the light of the workshop, and it is these updated papers that appear in Chapter 4 onwards. The papers are in alphabetical order of first author. To complete this text we have added an introduction to software re-use as a first chapter-this was prepared by Liesbeth Dusink. We have added a comprehensive bibliography as Chapter 3, merging the bibliographies accumulated at Delft and at Brunei. To be able to organise the workshop we were sponsored by SERC, the Software Engineering Research Centre in Utrecht, Netherlands. Book Empirical Foundations of Information and Software Science V

Download or read book Empirical Foundations of Information and Software Science V written by Pranas Zunde and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the proceedings of the Sixth Symposium on Empirical Foundations of Information and Software Sciences (EFISS), which was held in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 19-21, 1988. The purpose of the symposia is to explore subjects and methods of scientific inquiry which are of common interest to information and software sciences, and to identify directions of research that would benefit from the mutual interaction of these two disciplines. The main theme of the sixth symposium was modeling in information and software engineering, with emphasis on methods and tools of modeling. The symposium covered topics such as models of individual and organizational users of information systems, methods of selecting appropriate types of models for a given type of users and a given type of tasks, deriving models from records of system usage, modeling system evolution, constructing user and task models for adaptive systems, and models of system architectures. This symposium was sponsored by the School of Information and Computer Science of the Georgia Institute of Technology and by the U.S. Army Institute for Research in Management Information, Communications, and Computer Sciences (AIRMICS). 17le Editors vii CONTENTS 1 I.
