Book excerpt: La presente investigación se propuso el objetivo plantear una propuesta de actividades de orientación educativa para favorecer la formación integral de los estudiantes en un plantel del nivel medio superior, partiendo de la opinión de docentes y directivos y de la revisión de información de la RIEMS y fuentes expertas, utilizando un enfoque cualitativo y el procedimiento de la teoría fundamentada, basada en seis categorías y veintiún indicadores. Los métodos utilizados para la obtención de los datos fueron la entrevista semi-estructurada y la investigación documental, empleándose el soporte de la triangulación de datos y fuentes para identificar coincidencias y divergencias y para obtener la dependencia y credibilidad necesarias. Los resultados obtenidos señalaron la pertinencia de realizar un diagnóstico situacional del plantel para identificar problemas y necesidades y a partir de ello diseñar colectivamente estrategias de formación de tutores-docentes para la operación de un Plan de Acción Tutorial como estrategia general para una educación centrada en el estudiante. La investigación concluyó con tres propuestas de elementos básicos para la transformación del estado del arte en la orientación psicopedagógica del plantel: los ejes para realizar el diagnóstico de necesidades, la caracterización de un Plan de Acción Tutorial y los elementos que deberá contener.

Book excerpt: Based on twenty case studies of universities worldwide, and on a survey administered to leaders in 101 universities, this open access book shows that, amidst the significant challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, universities found ways to engage with schools to support them in sustaining educational opportunity. In doing so, they generated considerable innovation, which reinforced the integration of the research and outreach functions of the university. The evidence suggests that universities are indeed open systems, in interaction with their environment, able to discover changes that can influence them and to change in response to those changes. They are also able, in the success of their efforts to mitigate the educational impact of the pandemic, to create better futures, as the result of the innovations they can generate. This challenges the view of universities as "ivory towers" being isolated from the surrounding environment and detached from local problems. As they reached out to schools, universities not only generated clear and valuable innovations to sustain educational opportunity and to improve it, this process also contributed to transform internal university processes in ways that enhanced their own ability to deliver on the third mission of outreach
