This book was released on 2018-12-17 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses efforts to control the low-frequency vibration transmission of typical power equipment and pipeline systems of ships, exploring the use of active and passive hybrid vibration isolation and adjustable dynamic vibration absorption technologies. It also proposes an adaptive feed-forward control strategy and studies a distributed feed-forward control hardware system. In addition, the book presents a three-way dynamic vibration absorption theory used to design a pipeline-system adjustable dynamic vibration absorber, which offers a number of advantages, such as compact structure, easy assembly and disassembly, low power consumption, excellent vibration control effect and wide frequency band adjustable ability, etc. This book is a valuable resource for researchers and engineers in the fields of noise and vibration control, active control systems, active vibration isolation and adaptive dynamic vibration absorption.

Book Active Vibration Control of Structures

Download or read book Active Vibration Control of Structures written by Grigoris K. Karaiskos and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-03 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the present study, it is experimentally examined and verified the effectiveness of fluid jet pulses to actively control the vibrations of flexible structures. The operating principles and capabilities of the proposed control system are understood by applying them in a simplified small scaled laboratory structure, which contains the basic dynamics of real structures. The efficiency of the jet pulses as an active control system, for a wide range of base excitations, is experimentally verified. All the experimental studies demonstrated the relation governing the reduction of vibration levels with the jet air pressure. The achieved reduction in the intensity of the oscillations exceeds 50% of the oscillation without the effect of the control system. The successful studies performed on the simplified laboratory structure are promising for active vibration control using jet pulses of more complicated structures such as civil engineering metallic structures, lightweight aerospace structures, robotic arms, axially moving systems, cable stayed structures, oil platforms and any kind of coastal structures that are prone to vibrations coming from ambient and operational loads.

Book Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Rotor Dynamics IFToMM

Download or read book Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Rotor Dynamics IFToMM written by Katia Lucchesi Cavalca and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-18 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IFToMM conferences have a history of success due to the various advances achieved in the field of rotor dynamics over the past three decades. These meetings have since become a leading global event, bringing together specialists from industry and academia to promote the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and information on the latest developments in the dynamics of rotating machinery. The scope of the conference is broad, including e.g. active components and vibration control, balancing, bearings, condition monitoring, dynamic analysis and stability, wind turbines and generators, electromechanical interactions in rotor dynamics and turbochargers. The proceedings are divided into four volumes. This second volume covers the following main topics: condition monitoring, fault diagnostics and prognostics; modal testing and identification; parametric and self-excitation in rotor dynamics; uncertainties, reliability and life predictions of rotating machinery; and torsional vibrations and geared systems dynamics.

Book Adaptive Structures

Download or read book Adaptive Structures written by David Wagg and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-04-09 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adaptive structures have the ability to adapt, evolve or change their properties or behaviour in response to the environment around them. The analysis and design of adaptive structures requires a highly multi-disciplinary approach which includes elements of structures, materials, dynamics, control, design and inspiration taken from biological systems. Development of adaptive structures has been taking place in a wide range of industrial applications, but is particularly advanced in the aerospace and space technology sector with morphing wings, deployable space structures; piezoelectric devices and vibration control of tall buildings. Bringing together some of the foremost world experts in adaptive structures, this unique text: includes discussions of the application of adaptive structures in the aerospace, military, civil engineering structures, automotive and MEMS. presents the impact of biological inspiration in designing adaptive structures, particularly the use of hierarchy in nature, which typically induces multi-functional behavior. sets the agenda for future research in adaptive structures in one distinctive single volume. Adaptive Structures: Engineering Applications is essential reading for engineers and scientists working in the fields of intelligent materials, structural vibration, control and related smart technologies. It will also be of interest to senior undergraduate and postgraduate research students as well as design engineers working in the aerospace, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering sectors.

Book IUTAM Symposium on Vibration Control of Nonlinear Mechanisms and Structures

Download or read book IUTAM Symposium on Vibration Control of Nonlinear Mechanisms and Structures written by H. Ulbrich and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-28 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last decades, the growth of micro-electronics has reduced the cost of computing power to a level acceptable to industry and has made possible sophisticated control strategies suitable for many applications. Vibration c- trol is applied to all kinds of engineering systems to obtain the desired dynamic behavior, improved accuracy and increased reliability during operation. In this context, one can think of applications related to the control of structures’ vib- tion isolation, control of vehicle dynamics, noise control, control of machines and mechanisms and control of ?uid-structure-interaction. One could continue with this list for a long time. Research in the ?eld of vibration control is extremely comprehensive. Pr- lems that are typical for vibration control of nonlinear mechanisms and str- tures arise in the ?elds of modeling systems in such a way that the model is suitable for control design, to choose appropriate actuator and sensor locations and to select the actuators and sensors. Theobjective of the Symposium was to present anddiscuss methodsthat contribute to thesolution of such problems and to demonstrate the state of the art inthe ?eld shown by typical examples. The intention was to evaluate the limits of performance that can beachievedby controlling the dynamics, and to point out gaps in present research and give links for areas offuture research.Mainly, it brought together leading experts from quite different areas presenting theirpoints of view.
