Book Vibration and Control of Flexible Rotor Supported by Magnetic Bearings

Download or read book Vibration and Control of Flexible Rotor Supported by Magnetic Bearings written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-15 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Active vibration control of flexible rotors supported by magnetic bearings is discussed. Using a finite-element method for a mathematical model of the flexible rotor, the eigenvalue problem is formulated taking into account the interaction between a mechanical system of the flexible rotor and an electrical system of the magnetic bearings and the controller. However, for the sake of simplicity, gyroscopic effects are disregarded. It is possible to adapt this formulation to a general flexible rotor-magnetic bearing system. Controllability with and without collocation sensors and actuators located at the same distance along the rotor axis is discussed for the higher order flexible modes of the test rig. In conclusion, it is proposed that it is necessary to add new active control loops for the higher flexible modes even in the case of collocation. Then it is possible to stabilize for the case of uncollocation by means of this method. Nonami, Kenzou Glenn Research Center RTOP 505-63-1B...

Book Responsive Systems for Active Vibration Control

Download or read book Responsive Systems for Active Vibration Control written by A. Preumont and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structural vibrations have become the critical factor limiting the performance of many engineering systems, typical amplitudes ranging from meters to a few nanometers. Many acoustic nuisances in transportation systems and residential and office buildings are also related to structural vibrations. The active control of such vibrations involves nine orders of magnitude of vibration amplitude, which exerts a profound influence on the technology. Active vibration control is highly multidisciplinary, involving structural vibration, acoustics, signal processing, materials science, and actuator and sensor technology. Chapters 1-3 of this book provide a state-of-the-art introduction to active vibration control, active sound control, and active vibroacoustic control, respectively. Chapter 4 discusses actuator/sensor placement, Chapter 5 deals with robust control of vibrating structures, Chapter 6 discusses finite element modelling of piezoelectric continua and Chapter 7 addresses the latest trends in piezoelectric multiple-degree-of-freedom actuators/sensors. Chapters 8-12 deal with example applications, including semi-active joints, active isolation and health monitoring. Chapter 13 addresses MEMS technology, while Chapter 14 discusses the design of power amplifiers for piezoelectric actuators.

Book Vibration Control of Frp Shaft Using Electromagnetic Actuator

Download or read book Vibration Control of Frp Shaft Using Electromagnetic Actuator written by Rashidifar Mohammad Amin and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2014-12-29 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces a new method for active vibration control of FRP rotating shaft. In the direction of composite rotor shaft system few works are also available. The use of composite material is increasing day by day in the various industries because of FRP composites are lighter, more durable and have infinite design flexibility. So details study of laminated composite shaft is required. Due to its light weight and flexibility this types of shafts do not sustains large vibration in the operational condition. Active vibration control of rotating composite shaft is also very important in the area of research. Therefore the objectives of the present works are laid down as follows: Finite element modeling for vibration analysis for rotating composite shaft, with disk and bearing. Effect of ply angle on the responses of the composite shaft. Modeling of electromagnetic actuator. Study of active vibration control of rotating composite shaft using electromagnetic actuators and PD control scheme.

Book Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Rotor Dynamics IFToMM

Download or read book Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Rotor Dynamics IFToMM written by Katia Lucchesi Cavalca and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-20 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IFToMM conferences have a history of success due to the various advances achieved in the field of rotor dynamics over the past three decades. These meetings have since become a leading global event, bringing together specialists from industry and academia to promote the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and information on the latest developments in the dynamics of rotating machinery. The scope of the conference is broad, including e.g. active components and vibration control, balancing, bearings, condition monitoring, dynamic analysis and stability, wind turbines and generators, electromechanical interactions in rotor dynamics and turbochargers. The proceedings are divided into four volumes. This first volume covers the following main topics: Active Components and Vibration Control; Balancing; Bearings: Fluid Film Bearings, Magnetic Bearings, Rolling Bearings and Seals; and Blades, Bladed Systems and Impellers.

Book Application of Active Magnetic Force Actuator for Control of Flexible Rotor System Vibrations

Download or read book Application of Active Magnetic Force Actuator for Control of Flexible Rotor System Vibrations written by Volodymyr Mykhaylyshyn and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this work was to develop and experimentally demonstrate a novel approach to minimize lateral vibrations of flexible rotor. The applied feed forward control approach employed magnetic force actuator to inject a specially designed force to counteract the rotor unbalance force. By specific selection of frequency and phase as functions of the rotor running speed and rotor natural frequency, the proposed simplified injection waveform has been shown to be effective both in reducing the rotor's vibrations and for hardware implementation. A model of the test rig was constructed using the finite element (FE) method and was validated using experimental data. The effectiveness of the proposed current injection was numerically simulated with FE model and experimentally validated using a residual unbalance force. It was noticed that at a selected constant running speed, just below the first rotor critical speed, the rotor vibrations were reduced approximately by 90%. The method was also implemented during the speed ramp test, which passes through the first critical speed. In this test the proposed force injection also reduced vibrations at various rotor speeds. These results agree well with the results of simulation.
