Book On the Activation of Asturian Anthracite Following Various Pretreatments

Download or read book On the Activation of Asturian Anthracite Following Various Pretreatments written by and published by . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Asturian anthracite has been subjected to different pretreatments and subsequently activated by steam at 850°C to a total burn-off of 55 percent. The physical properties (micropore sizes and distributions, external surface areas, etc.) of the solids are compared with those of the carbon obtained by direct activation. Although the yield is generally low, it appears that better results are obtained by activation following preoxidation in air at 270°C for 3 days. In the case of pretreatments with a mixture of nitrogen, air, and water vapor at 450°C, the subsequent activation is less efficient. The micropore volumes and the pore size distributions are similar to those observed for soft precursors, but at a much lower degree of burn-off.

Book Process Intensification

Download or read book Process Intensification written by David Reay and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-06-05 with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Process Intensification: Engineering for Efficiency, Sustainability and Flexibility is the first book to provide a practical working guide to understanding process intensification (PI) and developing successful PI solutions and applications in chemical process, civil, environmental, energy, pharmaceutical, biological, and biochemical systems. Process intensification is a chemical and process design approach that leads to substantially smaller, cleaner, safer, and more energy efficient process technology. It improves process flexibility, product quality, speed to market and inherent safety, with a reduced environmental footprint. This book represents a valuable resource for engineers working with leading-edge process technologies, and those involved research and development of chemical, process, environmental, pharmaceutical, and bioscience systems. No other reference covers both the technology and application of PI, addressing fundamentals, industry applications, and including a development and implementation guide Covers hot and high growth topics, including emission prevention, sustainable design, and pinch analysis World-class authors: Colin Ramshaw pioneered PI at ICI and is widely credited as the father of the technology

Download or read book Nanomaterials for Carbon Dioxide Capture and Conversion Technologies written by Shaukat Ali Mazari and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2022-10-04 with total page 465 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanomaterials for Carbon Dioxide Capture and Conversion Technologies focuses on the applications of nanomaterials for CO2 capture and conversion. The book highlights the need for CO2 mitigation, followed by the basic principles for CO2 capture and conversion, using different nanomaterials, while also discussing and highlighting challenges and perspectives. Abundant CO2 emissions from industries and the transportation sector are a threat to the planet due to overwhelming concerns regarding CO2-induced climate change. Nanomaterials are being widely investigated for CO2 capture and conversion processes. Nano absorbents, adsorbents and nanomembranes for CO2 capture, nano catalysts for catalytic CO2 conversion, and chemical fixation of CO2 are some of the broader applications of nanomaterials for CO2 mitigation. Helps readers understand the basic mechanisms and theories behind CO2 capture and conversion using nanomaterials Provides information on the range of nanomaterials types used in CO2 capture and storage systems Assesses the major challenges for integrating nanotechnology into carbon dioxide capture and storage systems at an industrial scale
