Book The Second Epistle of Saint Paul to the Corinthians

Download or read book The Second Epistle of Saint Paul to the Corinthians written by R. D. Byles B.A. and published by Aeterna Press. This book was released on with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE events of St. Paul’s public life are narrated in the Acts of the Apostles as far as they are known; so that it is not necessary in this place to give more than a short account of them, collecting the scattered references which might escape notice, and referring to the Scripture text for the longer narrative. But concerning his earlier life, and also about his last years, a rather fuller account is required. St. Paul was a Jew, of the tribe of Benjamin, born, not in Palestine, but at Tarsus, a city of Cilicia, the natives of which enjoyed the privileges of Roman citizenship (cf. Acts 16:37, 38, 21:39, 22:3, 25–29). He received at his circumcision the name of Saul. He was brought up in the sect of the Pharisees, which sect, though it contained many hypocrites, included also most of the really fervent and pious men among the Jews. In accordance with the precept of the Jewish law, that every young man must learn some trade by which he could support himself, Saul was instructed in the art of tent-making. Aeterna Press

Father James Sullivan begins each daily devotional with a scene from Acts of the Apostles or the Epistles of Saint Paul. Filled with rich historical and personal details describing the thoughts and feelings that a disciple must have experienced, Sullivan places you in the midst of the early Christians who heard the words of Saint Paul. This pocket-sized devotional gives you everything you need to walk with and learn at the feet of the Saint Paul, including: • Intimate, personal reflections on the words and acts of Saint Paul • Heartfelt prayers, echoing the same prayers and petitions of the great convert and evangelizer • Detailed maps chronicling Saint Paul's extensive missionary journeys (p. 557-560) • A timeline of St. Paul's life both before and after his dramatic conversion (p. 563-564) • And much more... After Christ's death and resurrection, Paul became the first Apostle to preach His Good News to non-Jews (Gentiles). This is generally considered the most decisive moment in Church history and Saint Paul was at the center of that moment. Now, you can travel with Saint Paul on his missionary tours, learn at his feet, and discover how to bring the teachings of Christ to your world. Book Apostle Paul

  • Author : Ralph F Wilson
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2019-08-05
  • ISBN : 9780996202572
  • Pages : 330 pages

Download or read book Apostle Paul written by Ralph F Wilson and published by . This book was released on 2019-08-05 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Apostle Paul is one of the most important teachers in the New Testament, authoring a large portion of the New Testament. His life and letters have guided, inspired, encouraged, and challenged the church for two millennia. But what makes Paul tick? The author contends that Paul's essential genius lies in his passion to know Jesus deeply and intimately. We can get ahold of this passion by exploring Paul's life and ministry over the course of 11 lessons. The narrative of the Book of Acts forms the basis of a chronological account of his life, with biographical elements included from Paul's letters. In addition, each lesson examines one or more of Paul's passions and key teachings, and how they can impact a believer's life, values, and commitments today. Some of these include: - Salvation by grace through faith, rather than by strict observance of the Law. - The passion to proclaim Jesus despite opposition and persecution. - Being totally surrendered to Christ, in Paul's words, "Crucified with Christ." - Knowing Jesus intimately -- in a way that surpasses everything else. Initially developed as an online study, this book is ideal for personal spiritual development, use by teachers and small group leaders, and for sermon development.
