Book Digital Signal Processing for Communication Systems

Download or read book Digital Signal Processing for Communication Systems written by Tadeusz Wysocki and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital Signal Processing for Communication Systems examines the plans for the future and the progress that has already been made, in the field of DSP and its applications to communication systems. The book pursues the progression from communication and information theory through to the implementation, evaluation and performance enhancing of practical communication systems using DSP technology. Digital Signal Processing for Communication Systems looks at various types of coding and modulation techniques, describing different applications of Turbo-Codes, BCH codes and general block codes, pulse modulations, and combined modulation and coding in order to improve the overall system performance. The book examines DSP applications in measurements performed for channel characterisation, pursues the use of DSP for design of effective channel simulators, and discusses equalization and detection of various signal formats for different channels. A number of system design issues are presented where digital signal processing is involved, reporting on the successful implementation of the system components using DSP technology, and including the problems involved with implementation of some DSP algorithms. Digital Signal Processing for Communication Systems serves as an excellent resource for professionals and researchers who deal with digital signal processing for communication systems, and may serve as a text for advanced courses on the subject.

Book The Acquisition of Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Communication Systems

Download or read book The Acquisition of Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Communication Systems written by Anthony Donald Demeri and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Paper surveys different techniques of acquiring Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Systems. It classifies different systems, indicates the strongpoints and weakness of each, along with some applications. One method, The Single Dwell Serial PN Acquisition System is then focused on in detail. The detail includes analysis of standard version, derivation of the mean time to acquire, the variance, the probability of detection and the probability of a false alarm. In the last section of the paper the analytical results of the Single Dwell Serial PN Acquisition System shall be confirmed by computer simulation.

Book Principles of Spread Spectrum Communication Systems

Download or read book Principles of Spread Spectrum Communication Systems written by Don Torrieri and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-16 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally adopted in military networks as a means of ensuring secure communication when confronted with the threats of jamming and interception, spread-spectrum systems are now the core of commercial applications such as mobile cellular and satellite communication. This book provides a concise but lucid explanation and derivation of the fundamentals of spread-spectrum communication systems. The level of presentation is suitable for graduate students with a prior graduate-level course in digital communication and for practicing engineers with a solid background in the theory of digital communication. As the title indicates, the author focuses on principles rather than specific current or planned systems. Although the exposition emphasizes theoretical principles, the choice of specific topics is tempered by their practical significance and interest to both researchers and system designers. Throughout the book, learning is facilitated by many new or streamlined derivations of the classical theory. Problems at the end of each chapter are intended to assist readers in consolidating their knowledge and to provide practice in analytical techniques. Principles of Spread-Spectrum Communication Systems is largely self-contained mathematically because of the four appendices, which give detailed derivations of mathematical results used in the main text.

Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS)* at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dis semination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the though that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemi nation. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 37 (thesis year 1992) a total of 12,549 thesis titles from 25 Canadian and 153 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this impor tant annual reference work. While Volume 37 reports theses submitted in 1992, on occasion, certain uni versities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book Spread Spectrum Acquisition and Tracking

Download or read book Spread Spectrum Acquisition and Tracking written by Donald L. Schilling and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report discusses the following subjects: A New Rapid Acquisition Technique for Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Communications. The rapid acquisition technique described here can be used in direct sequence spread spectrum systems. The technique employs a double threshold which defines when a decision can be made. These thresholds change at each examination instant. Using this technique a significant reduction in the acquisition time of a direct sequence spread spectrum signal is obtained. A New Double Threshold Acquisition Scheme Applied to the Fading Channel in Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum.

Book Fundamentals of Spread Spectrum Modulation

Download or read book Fundamentals of Spread Spectrum Modulation written by Rodger E. Ziemer and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2007 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This lecture covers the fundamentals of spread spectrum modulation, which can be defined as any modulation technique that requires a transmission bandwidth much greater than the modulating signal bandwidth, independently of the bandwidth of the modulating signal. After reviewing basic digital modulation techniques, the principal forms of spread spectrum modulation are described. One of the most important components of a spread spectrum system is the spreading code, and several types and their characteristics are described. The most essential operation required at the receiver in a spread spectrum system is the code synchronization, which is usually broken down into the operations of acquisition and tracking. Means for performing these operations are discussed next. Finally, the performance of spread spectrum systems is of fundamental interest and the effect of jamming is considered, both without and with the use of forward error correction coding. The presentation ends with consideration of spread spectrum systems in the presence of other users. For more complete treatments of spread spectrum, the reader is referred to [1, 2, 3].
