Book Age Friendly Health Systems

Download or read book Age Friendly Health Systems written by Terry Fulmer and published by Institute for Healthcare Improvement (Ihi). This book was released on 2022-02 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to the US Census Bureau, the US population aged 65+ years is expected to nearly double over the next 30 years, from 43.1 million in 2012 to an estimated 83.7 million in 2050. These demographic advances, however extraordinary, have left our health systems behind as they struggle to reliably provide evidence-based practice to every older adult at every care interaction. Age-Friendly Health Systems is an initiative of The John A. Hartford Foundation and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), in partnership with the American Hospital Association (AHA) and the Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA), designed Age-Friendly Health Systems to meet this challenge head on. Age-Friendly Health Systems aim to: Follow an essential set of evidence-based practices; Cause no harm; and Align with What Matters to the older adult and their family caregivers.

Book Characters of Solvable Groups

Download or read book Characters of Solvable Groups written by I. Martin Isaacs and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2018-05-23 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, which can be considered as a sequel of the author's famous book Character Theory of Finite Groups, concerns the character theory of finite solvable groups and other groups that have an abundance of normal subgroups. It is subdivided into three parts: -theory, character correspondences, and M-groups. The -theory section contains an exposition of D. Gajendragadkar's -special characters, and it includes various extensions, generalizations, and applications of his work. The character correspondences section proves the McKay character counting conjecture and the Alperin weight conjecture for solvable groups, and it constructs a canonical McKay bijection for odd-order groups. In addition to a review of some basic material on M-groups, the third section contains an exposition of the use of symplectic modules for studying M-groups. In particular, an accessible presentation of E. C. Dade's deep results on monomial characters of odd prime-power degree is included. Very little of this material has previously appeared in book form, and much of it is based on the author's research. By reading a clean and accessible presentation written by the leading expert in the field, researchers and graduate students will be inspired to learn and work in this area that has fascinated the author for decades.

Book excerpt: This volume is divided into five parts and fifteen chapters that address these topics by examining ethnogeriatric foundations, research issues, clinical care in ethnogeriatrics, education and policy. Expertly written chapters, by practicing geriatricians, gerontologists, clinician researchers and clinician educators, present a systematic approach to recognizing, analyzing and addressing the challenges of meeting the healthcare needs of a diverse population and authors discuss ways in which to engage the community by increasing research participation and by investigating the most prevalent diseases found in ethnic minorities. Ethnogeriatrics discusses issues related to working with culturally diverse elders that tend not to be addressed in typical training curricula and is essential reading for geriatricians, hospitalists, advance practice nurses, social workers and others who are part of a multidisciplinary team that provides high quality care to older patients.

Book Primary Care for Older Adults

Download or read book Primary Care for Older Adults written by Michael Wasserman and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-10-03 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive and systematic state-of-the science review of major primary care delivery models, how they address specific needs of older adults, and available evidence for their efficacy. Written by experts in the field, this book explores the patient-centered medical home model (PCMH) in depth and dives into the complexities of the “medical neighborhood”. It describes and analyzes primary care specifically directed toward special, complex populations, such as the Health Home for safety net patients with mental health needs, and intensive primary care for older adults. It reviews an array of primary care models related to dual eligible patients including the GRACE primary care consultation model and PACE models. It describes primary care with Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants and explores in-depth the massive effort within the VA to develop the Patient Activated Care Team (PACT), a VA form of the PCMH that also has several offshoots that address complex older veterans and veterans with severe mental illness. Finally, it illuminates rarely discussed primary care that occurs within the home and within long-term care. Throughout the entire book, experts navigate the workforce, care quality, and financing challenges of primary care for older adults. Primary Care for Older Adults is a valuable resource for clinicians, researchers, patients, caregivers and their advocates, and policy makers who have an interest in designing, promoting, and implementing high quality primary care for older adults.

  • Pages : 196 pages

Download or read book Giants written by Peter Phillips and published by Seven Stories Press. This book was released on 2018-08-28 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A look at the top 300 most powerful players in world capitalism, who are at the controls of our economic future. Who holds the purse strings to the majority of the world's wealth? There is a new global elite at the controls of our economic future, and here former Project Censored director and media monitoring sociologist Peter Phillips unveils for the general reader just who these players are. The book includes such power players as Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Jamie Dimon, and Warren Buffett. As the number of men with as much wealth as half the world fell from sixty-two to just eight between January 2016 and January 2017, according to Oxfam International, fewer than 200 super-connected asset managers at only 17 asset management firms—each with well over a trillion dollars in assets under management—now represent the financial core of the world's transnational capitalist class. Members of the global power elite are the management—the facilitators—of world capitalism, the firewall protecting the capital investment, growth, and debt collection that keeps the status quo from changing. Each chapter in Giants identifies by name the members of this international club of multi-millionaires, their 17 global financial companies—and including NGOs such as the Group of Thirty and the Trilateral Commission—and their transnational military protectors, so the reader, for the first time anywhere, can identify who constitutes this network of influence, where the wealth is concentrated, how it suppresses social movements, and how it can be redistributed for maximum systemic change.
