Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of integrated- or guided-wave optics has experienced significant and continuous growth since its inception in the late 1960s. There has been a considerable increase in research and development activity in this field worldwide and some significant advances in the realization of working in tegrated optic devices and modules have been made in recent years. In fact, there have already been some commercial manufacturing and technical ap plications of such devices and modules. The guided-wave-acoustooptics involving Bragg interactions between guided optical waves and surface acoustic waves is one of the areas of in tegrated-optics that has reached some degree of scientific and technological maturity. This topical volume is devoted to an in-depth treatment of this emerging branch of science and technology. Presented in this volume are concise treatments on bulk-wave acoustooptics, guided-wave optics, and surface acoustic waves, and detailed studies of guided-wave acoustooptic Bragg diffraction in three promising material substrates, namely, LiNb0 , 3 ZnO/Si0 , and GaAs, the resulting wide band modulators and deflectors, 2 and applications. The chapters cover not only the basic principles and the oretical analysis, but also the design, fabrication, and measurement of the resulting devices and modules, and their applications.

Book Acousto Optics Second Edition

Download or read book Acousto Optics Second Edition written by Adrian Korpel and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1996-11-06 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revised and updated, this second edition first explains heuristically the physics of acousto-optics before presenting the mathematics of the formal theory. The material is integrated to illustrate and promote the development of new ideas, concepts, theories, inventions and devices. The text also offers sections on the Near-Bragg regime and curved sound wave fronts, coverage of the numerical approach, selected applications, coverage of anisotropic Bragg diffraction, and material on spectral formalisms.

Book Acousto optics

Download or read book Acousto optics written by Adrian Korpel and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Offers a heuristic explanation of the physics of acousto-optics and presents the mathematics of the formal theory. After historical background, chapters cover the heuristic, formal, and numerical approaches, applications including the Quasi Theorem and Bragg diffraction, and related fields and special topics such as spectral formalisms. Includes reference appendices and a summary of research and design formulas. This second edition is revised since the first edition in 1988 to reflect increased contact with researchers from the former Soviet Union, increased interest in signal processing and acousto-optic tunable fibers, and the development of more powerful formalisms and algorithms. It also puts more emphasis on applications and numerical methods. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Book Acoustooptic Devices and Their Applications

Download or read book Acoustooptic Devices and Their Applications written by L. N. Magdich and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1989 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of lasers and laser technology has sharply intensified research on devices for controlling optical radiation. Acoustooptic devices rank among the most important of these control devices. This volume represents the systematic compilation of the theory of the acoustooptic effect and covers the design principles of the corresponding devices and their application settings. Also examined are the characteristics of the most promising acoustooptic materials for the visible and infrared ranges.

Book Photonic Devices

Download or read book Photonic Devices written by Jia-ming Liu and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2009-06-11 with total page 1108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Photonic devices lie at the heart of the communications revolution, and have become a large and important part of the electronic engineering field, so much so that many colleges now treat this as a subject in its own right. With this in mind, the author has put together a unique textbook covering every major photonic device, and striking a careful balance between theoretical and practical concepts. The book assumes a basic knowledge of optics, semiconductors and electromagnetic waves. Many of the key background concepts are reviewed in the first chapter. Devices covered include optical fibers, couplers, electro-optic devices, magneto-optic devices, lasers and photodetectors. Problems are included at the end of each chapter and a solutions set is available. The book is ideal for senior undergraduate and graduate courses, but being device driven it is also an excellent engineers' reference.
