  • Pages : 557 pages

Download or read book Azides and Nitrenes written by Eric Scriven and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 557 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Azides and Nitrenes: Reactivity and Utility provides information pertinent to the fundamentals aspects of the chemistry of azides and nitrenes. This book discusses the mechanism and synthetic applications of alkyl azides. Organized into 10 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the properties and chemistry of alkyl azides and alkylnitrenes. This text then examines the various pathways to the preparation of vinyl azides. Other chapters consider the magnetic resonance spectrum of phenyl azide, which may be taken as a representative to which more complex examples can be related. This book discusses as well the acyl azides and acylnitrenes that have their nitrogen function attached to electron-withdrawing groups not possessing a heteroatom bearing an unshared electron pair next to the nitrogen function. The final chapter deals with the main uses for organic azides involved in photochemical cross-linking of polymeric systems. This book is a valuable resource for chemists, spectroscopists, and theoreticians.

Book Thermal Decomposition

    Book Details:
  • Author : Kalyna Jocosa Pace
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2019-05-18
  • ISBN : 9781536154603
  • Pages : 215 pages

Download or read book Thermal Decomposition written by Kalyna Jocosa Pace and published by . This book was released on 2019-05-18 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Azide compounds are high energy materials with applications in many chemical reactions and applications. In this compilation, several methods are applied to calculate the thermal decomposition properties of azide compounds comprising of differential scanning calorimetery, differential thermal analysis and thermogravimeteric analysis which demonstrate temperature, energy and weight loss. Following this, the authors assess the catalytic efficacy of nanosized bimetallic transition metal oxides of copper, iron and cobalt, with iron synthesized using the solution combustion method in a laboratory reactor. The prepared catalysts are characterized for their structure and particle size. The authors also discuss thermal runaway in alkaline batteries. It is shown that a lot of experimental data exists that contradicts the generally accepted thermal runaway mechanism. In conclusion, a novel kinetic model for pyrolysis of medium-density fiberboard derived Beech sawdust is proposed. The complete procedure includes a combined four parallel reaction model and three-component Log-Normal distributed reactivity model.

Book The Chemistry of Organic Sulfur Compounds

Download or read book The Chemistry of Organic Sulfur Compounds written by Norman Kharasch and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 475 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chemistry of Organic Sulfur Compounds deals with the chemistry of organic sulfur compounds such as thiocyanates, 1-alkynyl thioethers, thiols, and olefins. Topics covered range from the mechanisms of Raney nickel desulfuration to olefin sulfide chemistry, desulfonylation reactions, and alkaline decomposition of aliphatic disulfides. The reaction of cyanide with cystine and cystine peptides is also discussed. This volume is comprised of 15 chapters and begins with an introduction to electron correlation and bond properties in some selected sulfur compounds including thionyl and sulfuryl fluoride. The following chapters explore the mechanisms of Raney nickel desulfuration; isomerization of organic thiocyanates; polyfluoroalkyl derivatives of sulfur; anionic oxidation of thiols and co-oxidation of thiols with olefins; and the chemistry of the 1,2-sithiole ring. Thiohydantoins, thiophosgene, and the alkaline decomposition of aliphatic disulfides are also considered. The final chapter is devoted to oxidation of disulfides, with special reference to cystine. This book will be a useful resource for organic chemists.

Book Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations

Download or read book Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations written by Alan R. Katritzky and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2003-03-21 with total page 964 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A vast range of different functional groups is potentially available from the attachment of three or four heteroatoms to carbon. Some of these are abundantly represented in the literature, others are rare, and many have yet to be described. The aim of this volume is to describe the synthesis of examples of known functional groups and to highlight those that are little known or unknown. All possible combinations of heteroatoms have been surveyed, with the exception of complexes in which carbon atoms are bonded only to transition elements. The material is organised in four parts: tetracoordinated carbon atoms bearing three attached heteroatoms are covered in Part 1, and those bearing four heteroatoms in Part II; the synthesis of tricoordinated carbon atoms with three attached heteroatoms is described in Part III; stabilized radicals and carbocations with three attached heteroatoms are covered briefly in Part IV.
