We created Access for Everyone to help people better understand accessibility. Built environments should be both inviting and inclusive, and should accommodate the needs of all people to the maximum extent possible. Understanding people's needs is an important first step in meeting the complex challenges in designing, construction, and maintaining accessible buildings and sites. Access for Everyone can be used to evaluate plans, buildings, and sites to determine whether they are accessible. To provide the most current ideas and information about accessibility, we have extensively consulted the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG). Throughout Access for Everyone, we include references to the ADAAG standards of 1998 and the revised 2004 ADAAG for your convenience. We have also incorporated principles of Universal Design, which suggest that environments should be designed to serve the needs of a variety of users.Acesss for Everyone will help youUnderstand the design needs of all people, including people with disabilities,Understand the basic requirements of ADAAG,Understand recommended dimensions that are based on universal design concepts,Identify features of buildings and sites that need to be analyzed for accessibiltiy, andDecide what actions need to be taken to make new and existing buildings and sites accessible to all people.

Strange customs, unfamiliar words and novel concepts encountered in the Bible's pages can make understanding the Word of God a real challenge. The Access Bible is friendly to people who've never studied the Bible before. Yes, it presents the most current scholarship, and it's based on the New Revised Standard Version translation (the new standard of scholarly excellence in Bible versions). But The Access Bible takes an important further step. It's been carefully written and edited so that those new to the world of Bible study can just pick it up - and start reading. A unique feature of The Access Bible is the running commentary which is interspersed with the Bible text. Difficult concepts are clearly explained in terms which everyday readers can easily understand. There's no need to have a dictionary by your side when you're using The Access Bible. When a technical explanation is required, all of the terms are defined right on the page, as well as in a glossary at the back. History, social contexts, religious practices, the beliefs of ancient peoples -- all are explained when the Bible text requires it. In addition, this new Bible was designed to contain all the background information needed by believers from a wide spectrum of churches. The Access Bible sets a new standard for ease of understanding. It's truly a companion for life's spiritual journey The Access Bible is available both with and without the Apocrypha.

Book University Access and Success

Download or read book University Access and Success written by Merridy Wilson-Strydom and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-02-11 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The challenge of widening access and participation in higher education in a manner that ensures students are successful in their studies is a major issue globally and a significant research-focus within higher education studies and higher education policy. Similarly, the challenge of under-preparedness of students entering higher education has become increasingly pertinent as universities in both developed and developing countries struggle to improve their throughput rates in a context in which schooling no longer seems to provide sufficient preparation for entering university. In this book Merridy Wilson-Strydom applies the capabilities approach to better understand university access and participation and draws on a rich case study from South Africa to critically and innovatively explore the complex and contradictory terrain of access with success. The book integrates quantitative and qualitative research with theory and practical application to provide a new framework for considering and improving the transition from school to university. University Access and Success will appeal to academics and researchers in the field of higher education internationally. The book also contributes to the growing body of international and comparative scholarship on the capabilities approach in higher education and will therefore be of value to higher education practitioners, such as those working in the promotion of teaching and learning, higher education quality assurance, institutional research and student affairs.
