Book Cadmium Telluride Quantum Dots

Download or read book Cadmium Telluride Quantum Dots written by John Donegan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2013-12-03 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last two decades, semiconductor quantum dots—small colloidal nanoparticles—have garnered a great deal of scientific interest because of their unique properties. Among nanomaterials, CdTe holds special technological importance as the only known II–VI material that can form conventional p–n junctions. This makes CdTe very important for the development of novel optoelectronic devices such as light-emitting diodes, solar cells, and lasers. Moreover, the demand for water-compatible light emitters and the most common biological buffers give CdTe quantum dots fields a veritable edge in biolabeling and bioimaging. Cadmium Telluride Quantum Dots: Advances and Applications focuses on CdTe quantum dots and addresses their synthesis, assembly, optical properties, and applications in biology and medicine. It makes for a very informative reading for anyone involved in nanotechnology and will also benefit those scientists who are looking for a comprehensive account on the current state of quantum dot–related research.

Book Ion Implantation in Cadmium Telluride

Download or read book Ion Implantation in Cadmium Telluride written by Stanford University. Stanford Electronics Laboratories and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results of investigations conducted on cadmium telluride (CdTe) samples are presented in this two-part document. Part 1 describes the effects of ion implantation doping in CdTe using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electrical evaluation as investigative tools. Part 2 describes the investigation of microstructural defects in CdTe and interfacial reactions at the Pt/CdTe contact and subsequent correlations with electrical measurements on CdTe room-temperature gamma ray detectors, and possible solar cell uses. This study has shown that the previous experimental data obtained on arsenic and krypton-implanted samples can be explained by the radiation-induced formation of electrically active defects rather than by substitutional impurity doping. A model has been proposed entailing the liberation of cadmium vacancy acceptors from radiation-induced loops. Using column I dopants (potassium, sodium, and cesium) to fill available cadmium cacancy sites, high doping efficiencies and true chemical doping have been obtained in ion-implanted CdTe. Investigations of CdTe radiation detector materials have shown a direct correlation between defect content, excess leakage currents and polarization on fabricated devices.

Book Identification of Defects in Semiconductors

Download or read book Identification of Defects in Semiconductors written by and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1998-10-27 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE SERIESSince its inception in 1966, the series of numbered volumes known as Semiconductors and Semimetals has distinguished itself through the careful selection of well-known authors, editors, and contributors. The "Willardson and Beer" Series, as it is widely known, has succeeded in publishing numerous landmark volumes and chapters. Not only did many of these volumes make an impact at the time of their publication, but they continue to be well-cited years after their original release. Recently, Professor Eicke R. Weber of the University of California at Berkeley joined as a co-editor of the series. Professor Weber, a well-known expert in the field of semiconductor materials, will further contribute to continuing the series' tradition of publishing timely, highly relevant, and long-impacting volumes. Some of the recent volumes, such as Hydrogen in Semiconductors, Imperfections in III/V Materials, Epitaxial Microstructures, High-Speed Heterostructure Devices, Oxygen in Silicon, and others promise indeed that this tradition will be maintained and even expanded.Reflecting the truly interdisciplinary nature of the field that the series covers, the volumes in Semiconductors and Semimetals have been and will continue to be of great interest to physicists, chemists, materials scientists, and device engineers in modern industry. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE VOLUMEThis volume has contributions on Advanced Characterization Techniques with a focus on defect identification. The combination of beam techniques with electrical and optical characterization has not been discussed elsewhere.

Book Nanoscale Matter and Principles for Sensing and Labeling Applications

Download or read book Nanoscale Matter and Principles for Sensing and Labeling Applications written by Dambarudhar Mohanta and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2024 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zusammenfassung: This book is a compilation of carefully chosen chapters that cover the subjects of nanoscale matter, sensing, and labelling applications. It is aimed primarily at scientists and researchers who are already involved in theme-based research or who are just starting their careers. Despite the diverse nature of the topics covered, which include a range of materials in various forms and uses, the emphasis is primarily on sensing and labelling phenomena. The book begins with materials quantification in nanoscale systems by using an innovative technique like "molecular secondary ion mass spectrometry without calibration standards". Subsequently, the book features an array of materials such as inorganic semiconductor nanoscale particles, carbon dots, rare-earth oxides, polymer nanocomposites, and a few biomaterials, all of which illustrate their functionality and potential for deployment in a wide variety of sensing applications. Although the book delves into the technical aspects of fabrication workouts to some extent, the focus is predominantly on the physical principles, mechanisms, and relevance involved in sensing and labelling applications. The book covers a wide range of topics that leverage the unique properties of nanoscale materials. By carefully selecting appropriate active materials, the authors explore the detection of LPG, hazardous and explosive gases, as well as humidity sensing and hydrogen evolution. It also delves into photo-sensing and persistent photoconductivity by using nanoscale semiconductors, which are used for heavy metal sensing and UV sensing, respectively. The use of metal nanoparticles in various forms is reviewed to address issues related to water contamination, biofilm protection, and food-borne pathogens. The book also discusses surface plasmon resonance, starting with its basic principles and expanding to its relevance in a broader perspective, with a greater focus on applied biosensing. Nanoscale ferrites and magnetic systems are explored with an emphasis on magnetic sensing and actuation. Lastly, the book explores the use of rare-earth-based nanosystems, highlighting persistent luminescence and up/down-converted transitions, which have unprecedented applications in bioimaging and biolabeling. Every effort has been made to strike a balance between the observed phenomena in the emerging areas of sensing applications and suitable theoretical treatments there in.
