The main purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between study habits and academic performance of senior secondary school students in Mathematics. To carry out this study, four research questions and one null hypothesis were raised to guide the study. The population of 1128 Senior Secondary School Two (SS2) students with a sample size of 200 respondents was selected from 5 public secondary schools for the study using simple random sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was used to gather data for the study, which consists of two sections (A and B), section A consist of 20 items while section B, consist of 30 achievement tests on mathematics. The reliability coefficient of 0.72 was obtained using Split Half Method. Data collected was analyzed using simple frequency counts, percentages and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient (PPMC) and the hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance using One-Way Analysis of Variance(ANOVA). However, the results revealed that there is significant relationship between study habits and academic performance of senior secondary school students in mathematics. Based on the result of the findings, it was recommended that group guidance should be organized in schools by professional counsellors in order to create awareness on how students can develop effective study habits which could lead to good academic performance in mathematics and a functional school library should be mounted in all the secondary schools.

Students that graduate from public junior secondary schools, controlling for a variety of other characteristics, score 0.15 to 0.3 standard deviations higher on the national exit exam than comparable privately schooled peers. This finding is robust to OLS, fixed-effects, and instrumental variable estimation strategies. Students attending Muslim private schools, including Madrassahs, fare no worse on average than students attending secular private schools. Out of the 29,000 students asked about work in the 1986 assessment, 54% reported working some amount of time each week, and over 28% reported working more than 15 hours per week. Thus, of 2.9 million 11th graders questioned in 1986, an estimated 1.6 million were employed and attending school. Data in this report cover the general characteristics and academic achievement of working students included in the NAEP as well as ancillary information from other studies. Student characteristics analyzed include gender, race/ethnicity, parents' education, high school program type, mathematics and science courses taken, postsecondary expectations, absenteeism, homework time, and television viewing time. Results indicate that: (1) employment has various effects on student achievement; (2) schools vary in the amount of time and effort they demand from their students, but it appears that some teachers lower their expectations regarding working students; (3) students' jobs should be examined in terms of content compatible with youth development and achievement; and (4) where work assignments are connected to schooling objectives, work can complement, rather than compete with, schooling objectives. A lack of activity increases the risk of heart disease, colon and breast cancer, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, osteoporosis, anxiety and depression and others diseases. Emerging literature has suggested that in terms of mortality, the global population health burden of physical inactivity approaches that of cigarette smoking. The prevalence and substantial disease risk associated with physical inactivity has been described as a pandemic. The prevalence, health impact, and evidence of changeability all have resulted in calls for action to increase physical activity across the lifespan. In response to the need to find ways to make physical activity a health priority for youth, the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Physical Activity and Physical Education in the School Environment was formed. Its purpose was to review the current status of physical activity and physical education in the school environment, including before, during, and after school, and examine the influences of physical activity and physical education on the short and long term physical, cognitive and brain, and psychosocial health and development of children and adolescents. Educating the Student Body makes recommendations about approaches for strengthening and improving programs and policies for physical activity and physical education in the school environment. This report lays out a set of guiding principles to guide its work on these tasks. These included: recognizing the benefits of instilling life-long physical activity habits in children; the value of using systems thinking in improving physical activity and physical education in the school environment; the recognition of current disparities in opportunities and the need to achieve equity in physical activity and physical education; the importance of considering all types of school environments; the need to take into consideration the diversity of students as recommendations are developed. This report will be of interest to local and national policymakers, school officials, teachers, and the education community, researchers, professional organizations, and parents interested in physical activity, physical education, and health for school-aged children and adolescents.

The "task" of interest in the present context is education-learning and remembering in school and transferring what is learned to the world outside of school. Teachers are expressing some sort of awareness of style when they observe a particular action taken by a particular student and then say something like: "This doesn't surprise me! That's just the way he is. " Observation of a single action cannot reveal a style. One's impres sion of a person's style is abstracted from multiple experiences of the person under similar circumstances. In education, if we understand the styles of individual students, we can often anticipate their perceptions and subsequent behaviors, anticipate their misunderstandings, take ad vantage of their strengths, and avoid (or correct) their weaknesses. These are some of the goals of the present text. In the first chapter, I present an overview of the terminology and research methods used by various authors of the text. Although they differ a bit with regard to meanings ascribed to certain terms or with regard to conclusions drawn from certain types of data, there is none theless considerable agreement, especially when one realizes that they represent three different continents and five different nationalities.

This shows that outside the school environment, students are faced with other factors that influence their academic performances. There is also clear distinction between the gifted children and others, but even at that there are factors that influence the academic of both gifted and non-gifted children which can not be traced to the school environment.

Purposive sampling technique was used in the selection of the students where the sample size was 240 students and also Purposive sampling technique was used in selecting the experimental and control groups. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the four research questions. Independent sample t-test was used to test null hypothesis one and four while paired sample t-test was used in testing the null hypotheses two and three, all null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed among others, that there was a significant difference in the achievement of the students of SSS II taught FA using LMS tool compared to those taught using Conventional method. It was concluded that LMS is effective in teaching FA for better students’ academic performance in secondary school. Based on this finding, it was recommended among others that teachers should intensify efforts in the use of LMS tool in teaching FA in secondary schools in Bauchi State.

However because the reformat has concentrated on knowledge structures, our teaching methods are still teacher-centered, not student-centered and do not encourage students to achieve lifelong learning and assessment. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between Teacher self-efficacy, interest, attitude, qualification, experience and pupils’ academic achievement in secondary school biology. The participants of the study comprises of 254 secondary school teachers and 120 secondary school students. Data collected on the study were analyzed using a stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results reveals that teacher self-efficacy and interest had significant correlation with students achievement scores. Teacher’s self-efficacy being the best predictor of students’ academic achievement in biology was followed by teacher’s interest. Attitude, qualification and experience were not significant correlation with pupil’s achievement in biology. The study recommended that it is high time for primary school biology teachers to have a change of attitude towards the teaching of the subject so that the achievement of universal basic education will not be hindered. Furthermore, primary school educational authorities were called upon to ensure that only teachers who are qualified to teach the subject are employed. Not these alone, their attention was also drawn to the fact that they should design educational programmes that will enhance the teacher self-efficacy for a better prediction of pupils’ achievement in Biology.
