Book excerpt: If you ever felt in prison mentally, scared, trauma, anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, incapable, unheard, insignificant, emotionally fragile, manipulated, and/or weakened from the dream you've been sold socially, well, its TIME for a MINDSHIFT!!! This book discusses how to streamline your thoughts and take back control of your thinking. This book will teach you mastery over your thought-process, and even beyond that, how to create an even more POWERFUL mindset to start living a fully expressive life. Introduction: A total, absolute mindshift. Imagine the power of completely believing in yourself and your abilities without any doubt or uncertainty. The belief that you are fully capable of being an intrinsic change agent in your life, in your business affairs, and in your relationships. How would this feel exactly? A lot of us don't know! If there is one thing that can change your life, it is "the power of certainty." What a person doesn't know, is unsure of, or has a lack of belief in is damaging. Although a can-do attitude will increase the positive vibrations of energies in your environment, it alone is not effective enough to impact your world. Total confidence in yourself, who you are, and your complete abilities is certainty. It is this certainty and the "absolute mindshift" that create magic. The Absolute MindShift is an intense adjustment of your thinking, your belief system, and your approach towards your affairs. The most consistent misinterpretation amongst humans is that of reality; and there being one! Don't get me wrong-I'm not saying there is no reality. What I am saying is that our reality isn't singular. REALITY EXISTS ONLY IN THE MIND... only by the thoughts you and I entertain regularly. Without thoughts, there is no reality, just existence. Without thoughts, there is no belief system, just being. Now, as the "human being" that you are, the "being" will never be sufficient by itself. On the other hand, if a person does master just "being," it will take massive work on their part. I didn't write this book to tell you how to "BE." The reading in this book is about doing, and doing with great certainty. We live in a world of doers. Growth, progress, and excelling amongst doers gives us a sense of happiness, joy, and fulfillment. As nice as "being" can be, accomplishment satisfies the human soul! The soul desires actualization of the potential that may resonate in you, even if the mind may not belief it yet. In my life, I went through years of struggling. My struggle seemed to exist as a constant factor regardless of what I did. Changing location, changing jobs, changing girlfriends, changing cars, changing substances I put in my body... none of it ever made a significant change in my financial or circumstantial reality. The struggle was constant! The struggle had an unbelievable power over me. I was unsure of who I was, what I could do, and where I was going in life. With this uncertainty, I was powerless. Hope was my only mental saving grace, but it wasn't good enough! In this book, I will show you how I overcame years of wreckage, how I mastered my mind to live a more purposeful and powerful life, and how you can too! As I like to say, "We didn't come here to struggle, we came here to master our minds so our souls can grow!" This is the Absolute MindShift.

Book excerpt: Mindshift reveals how we can overcome stereotypes and preconceived ideas about what is possible for us to learn and become. At a time when we are constantly being asked to retrain and reinvent ourselves to adapt to new technologies and changing industries, this book shows us how we can uncover and develop talents we didn’t realize we had—no matter what our age or background. We’re often told to “follow our passions.” But in Mindshift, Dr. Barbara Oakley shows us how we can broaden our passions. Drawing on the latest neuroscientific insights, Dr. Oakley shepherds us past simplistic ideas of “aptitude” and “ability,” which provide only a snapshot of who we are now—with little consideration about how we can change. Even seemingly “bad” traits, such as a poor memory, come with hidden advantages—like increased creativity. Profiling people from around the world who have overcome learning limitations of all kinds, Dr. Oakley shows us how we can turn perceived weaknesses, such as impostor syndrome and advancing age, into strengths. People may feel like they’re at a disadvantage if they pursue a new field later in life; yet those who change careers can be fertile cross-pollinators: They bring valuable insights from one discipline to another. Dr. Oakley teaches us strategies for learning that are backed by neuroscience so that we can realize the joy and benefits of a learning lifestyle. Mindshift takes us deep inside the world of how people change and grow. Our biggest stumbling blocks can be our own preconceptions, but with the right mental insights, we can tap into hidden potential and create new opportunities.

Book excerpt: Im too fat. I MUST be successful. Im scared. Its because when I was a kid Daddy is never home. We all have frameworks weve built for ourselves throughout life. Ways of being. Of believing. Glasses through which we see life. Whether positive or negative, they shape our whole being and affect our daily lives. From being unsatisfied at home or in a relationship, to impressions left with us from childhood, we constantly live out of lives through these lenses we create in our mind. In Mindshift, Drs. Marty Lerman and Samuel Kupper seek to take the reader on an experiential journey to show how simple changes in perception, a reworking of the way we see through our own lenses, can create drastic positive change. Read about how one woman conquered cancer, how a veteran came home and now lives without the lasting effects of war, how kids no longer suffer from ADHD, and more. If these people can create these kinds of changes in their lives with just a simple shift of the mind, imagine what you could do. Your mind is powerful. Harness it. Shift.

Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Mental toughness, mental clarity, and mental health all have one thing in common: The journey begins in your mind. In this radical guide, the award-winning author of The Last Arrow illuminates a surprising path toward personal fulfillment and optimal performance. “Erwin McManus is the most brilliant thinker I’ve ever met.”—fourteen-time bestselling author Jon Gordon Throughout his thirty years of work as a mindset expert and leadership coach, Erwin Raphael McManus has been obsessed with these questions: Why do some people succeed despite having all the odds stacked against them? How do others achieve the unthinkable, only to watch their lives slip away? Are there mental structures for failure and success? McManus has come to realize that too many of us have “near-life” experiences. We almost pursue our dreams. We almost make the decision that changes everything. We are always one choice away. If we want to live without regret, we need to make a mind shift—trading beliefs that limit our potential for ones that help us move toward optimal performance and pursue the success of being fully alive. We must move from a life of obligation to a life of intention. In Mind Shift, McManus brings together twelve mental frameworks that have helped some of the most accomplished people on earth create internal structures of success. Among them: • You have to choose between acceptance and uniqueness. If you are addicted to affirmation, you will become what others want you to be rather than who you were created to become. • You don’t need an audience. It’s what you do in private that makes you who you are. • Talent is a hallucinogen. It will make you believe that hard work and discipline are for everyone else. Sharing experiences from entrepreneurs, artists, professional athletes, and his own career, McManus shows us how to transform our thinking—and, in turn, transform our lives.

Book excerpt: This book attempts to address the subject of physical training as it relates to health and fitness from a both philosophical and pedagogical perspective. In that, the current popularization of fitness seems at odds with its original intent; which was the cultivation of the mind-body and spirit ( an internal manifestation of intent) through the systematic practice of a discipline such as yoga, martial arts, gymnastics or dance or a training program specifically designed to prepare an athlete for sports participation-track and field, basketball, football, etc., which required the participant to have mastered the basic physical prerequisites-good posture, balance, coordination, agility, suppleness, command of basic calisthenics, and kinesthetic awareness, necessary for high levels of performance while minimizing the risk of injuries. This books premise is about making a mind shift from the current definition and practice of physical fitness as portrayed by many popular fitness media personalities, health and fitness magazines and many big box health clubs, to one in which the acquisition of physical fitness is likened to the study of the martial arts where one follows the path, or commonly referred as the way or (Dao). The characters depicted in the book, though their backgrounds may differ, follow a physical fitness similar in fashion. A regimen that owes much of its origin to ancient Chinese martial arts, calisthenics (body weight training) propagated by the ancient Greek athletes and the physical cultural movement of the mid 1800s to early 1900s that took place here in the United States and in parts of Europe. The aforementioned had a common philosophy. And that was physical training, whether for the purely aesthetic, muscular strength, athletics, or general good health, should be systematic, progressive, efficient, and most important work. In other words, progress that is validated through observation-well coordinated fluid movements, better stability (balance), improved posture and aesthetics. And measurable-able to successfully perform a series of basic strength to body weight tests: pull ups, dips, push-ups, sprints with perfect form. Hopefully, in some small way, the stories in this book about characters striving to achieve physical mastery of a discipline or engaging in a challenging free form of movement for the sheer delight of it, will give the reader pause the next time he or she hears about the latest exercise gimmick or gizmo or the next must have fitness celebrities workout DVD. And maybe, just maybe, theyd be on the verge of a mind shift.

Download or read book Museum Representations of Maoist China written by Amy Jane Barnes and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-15 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The collection, interpretation and display of art from the People’s Republic of China, and particularly the art of the Cultural Revolution, have been problematic for museums. These objects challenge our perception of ’Chineseness’ and their style, content and the means of their production question accepted notions of how we perceive art. This book links art history, museology and visual culture studies to examine how museums have attempted to reveal, discuss and resolve some of these issues. Amy Jane Barnes addresses a series of related issues associated with collection and display: how museums deal with difficult and controversial subjects; the role they play in mediating between the object and the audience; the role of the Other in the creation of Self and national identities; the nature, role and function of art in society; the museum as image-maker; the impact of communism (and Maoism) on the cultural history of the twentieth-century; and the appropriation of communist visual iconography. This book will be of interest to researchers and students of museology, visual and cultural studies as well as scholars of Chinese and revolutionary art.

Book REDEFINING THE 21st CENTURY MAN Principles and Disciplines to Unleash The Warrior Within

Download or read book REDEFINING THE 21st CENTURY MAN Principles and Disciplines to Unleash The Warrior Within written by Rafa Conde and published by BookLocker.com. This book was released on with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Direct and brutally honest, Rafa Conde debunks the myth of toxic masculinity, redefining what it is to be a 21st Century Man. Men have lost their warrior spirit and have become soft. They have abdicated their roles and failed to lead themselves, their families and businesses. Conde is on a life mission to change this paradigm. He makes a compelling case for the modern revival of the ancient warrior codes. This book explores the strategies and philosophies of ancient warrior cultures and their commanders. Throughout history, leaders like Marcus Aurelius, King David and King Leonidas exhibited manly courage. Their ability to influence others and to embody the warrior spirit was unquestionable. Spartans, Samurais and Knights lived by an exemplary code of conduct and exhibited fearlessness in combat. Zen and Stoicism played vital roles in forging mental toughness and courage. Today, the influence of these mindsets are seen in successful entrepreneurs, high achievers and champion athletes. These long lost principles, states of mind and strategies have been consolidated into 25 FORGING DISCIPLINES with direct application in the modern world. By embodying these disciplines in your life you will emerge a stronger leader, visionary, father and husband. Essentially a 21st Century Man.
