He may learn all about the syllogism, the premise, the middle term and the conclusion, and he may even be able to discern between a genuine and a spurious argument, but if he lack in the logical mind this knowledge will avail him little. Lincoln never had the advantage of the logic of the schools but it is hard to find a man whose sentences show more of the law of natural sequence than do his.
