Book ABC s of FT NMR

    Book Details:
  • Author : John D. Roberts
  • Publisher : University Science Books
  • Release : 2000
  • ISBN : 9781891389184
  • Pages : 342 pages

Download or read book ABC s of FT NMR written by John D. Roberts and published by University Science Books. This book was released on 2000 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary purpose of this book is to help you understand what is going on in Fourier Transform (FT) Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Modern life is now very largely life with 'black boxes' that carry warning labels: 'No user-serviceable parts inside.' Many find black boxes to be quite acceptable, at least as long as they work. But how willing should we be to accept black-box analyses without some understanding of how those analyses were obtained? NMR spectrometers are like 'black boxes' in that they offer many standardised procedures, but it can be dangerous to the quality of your data if you rely slavishly on such procedures without understanding how and why the proper parameter choices are critical. The scope of this book is broad rather than deep with the intention of providing helpful insight. Much can be understood in a more qualitative way and that is the approach taken here. For those few areas where a quantitative approach is needed, simple mathematics will usually suffice.

Book The ABC s of ABG sTM

Download or read book The ABC s of ABG sTM written by Robert F. Moran and published by Momentum Press. This book was released on 2018-07-01 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a patient is brought into a trauma center in extremis, or becomes that way during a hospital stay, the intervention mantra is airway, breathing and circulation—the ABC’s. We provide the nonspecialist physician, and those in the participating and supporting professions, a quick overview of the meaning of the testing terms in this environment. Many tests, added singly or in small groups over time as clinical and measurement technology evolved, but whose rationale may have become less clear, are defined and explained. Our format is simple—a brief overview of the physiologic environment and then the encyclopedic dictionary of the terminology. We include common terms as well as some of the confusing uses of terms besides lesser known facts influencing their clinical use on the basis of the analytical, medical, and managerial experience of the authors. Keep it in your lab coat pocket—you’ll find it useful in understanding and teaching!
