Book The Mystery of Jesus

Download or read book The Mystery of Jesus written by Dom Louismet and published by . This book was released on 2013-03-16 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The treatise is divided into three distinctparts, thus:1. Preliminaries.2. The amazing human life of Christ on earth.3. Mighty sequels, in time and eternity, to the human life of Christ on earth."Mysteries, both natural and supernatural, surround us, press us and penetrate us on all sides. We are simply steeped in mysteries. We are to our very selves, and each one of the brethren is to us, a mystery or rather a sheaf of mysteries. The material universe we are in is an enormous congeries of mysteries: in the inscrutable depths of the firmament, in the atmosphere which envelops our planet, above and beneath the surface of the earth, in the oceans, are found mysteries upon mysteries and mysteries within mysteries." Indeed when we meditate on these truths we realize just how awesome God really is! Let us consider the outline of the contemplation of this work: "I N the great mystery of Jesus we can consider three distinct sets of mysteries, namely, (1) The mysteries of His sacred Flesh and Blood; (2) Those of His blessed human soul; and (3) Those of His pure Godhead. It is the contemplation of the sacred humanity of Our Lord, that is to say, of His human body and soul which will engross our attention in these pages."And let us return: "WHOSOEVER pays loving reverence to the person of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, pays also loving reverence to His most Sacred Heart. It does not matter whether he realizes this or not, or actually think of it or not. This consideration is very sweet and comforting. It shows that the devotion to the Sacred Heart has been at least implicitly practised by the Church and all her children from the very beginning. Even heretics, when pious and in good faith, as is the case with a certain number of them, practise this devotion in spite of themselves and at the very time that they are condemning it in the Catholic Church." Indeed the Worship of the Sacred Heart is most appropriate for these times. God loves us and the Sacred Heart is a great demonstration of this love. He devotes a chapter to other works on our Lord Jesus Christ: "The order I follow is this: beginning with contemporary books on Our Lord, I work my way up through the centuries to the very first, where we reach at last the bedrock foundation of the four Gospels and the rest of the Scriptures. I could not use the word "Christology" in this connection, because it is too learned a word for many of my readers, and also because the words at the head of this chapter allow of a larger scope in the choice of books to be recommended."The second part of this work explores the amazing life of Jesus Christ. Let us consider Jesus at four years old a bit: "At the age of four the Child Jesus was growing wholly gracious. Still small enough to be taken up and carried in arms, an action which Mary and Joseph would do with unspeakable rapture-yet big enough to walk alone, and to make much happy stir in the house and round about it. The Child Jesus began to smile, to laugh and prattle, and to enter upon an innocent and happy life, like other dear little children of that age. I cannot imagine the Child Jesus frowning. No doubt from time to time His sweet Mother and His foster-father had suddenly come upon Him and found Him rapt in a state of prayer infinitely beyond His age: but as a rule His appearance and conduct were those of die most beautiful, perfect, natural and loving little child that ever existed."

Download or read book The Sacred Shadow written by Courtney Cohen and published by Now Found Publishing. This book was released on 2019-08-20 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How might life look if we lived as though eternity is now? Many of us have fallen into a trap, thinking that God and His kingdom are “up there somewhere” as if He and His dwelling place are distant in reach and in time. But, Jesus came teaching a very different reality. To every physical aspect of creation, there is a spiritual counterpart. When God created the world, He called it very good. He declared it to be sacred by placing His own image in the world through humanity. He charged humanity to fill the earth, to take dominion, to declare who God is. So, the here and now, this present reality…this is sacred. The tangible is not evil; it is a gift from God. And yet, it’s not the end all be all. It is just the beginning, a glimpse, a shadow of the greater reality. Here we live in the sacred shadow, but one day, when we pass through the veil of perception which blurs our present reality, when we step over the thread of time which is a boundary for now, but won’t be a boundary forever and certainly isn’t a boundary for God, we will step out of the sacred shadow and into the sacred substance. In Courtney Cohen’s latest book, The Sacred Shadow, explore what reality truly is, encounter the near presence of God, challenge your perception of eternity, and discover the sacredness that exists now during our brief time spent in this shadow-land. What Leaders Are Saying About The Sacred Shadow… “The Sacred Shadow is the perfect book to read when trying to make sense of the world we live in. It invites us to discover and understand that eternity is our real home, and we are just passing through earth, pilgrims headed to our glorious promised land. I urge you to read on. And, if you’re like me and you get excited at the thought of the supernatural heaven, the spirit world, and holy mysteries being revealed, you will likely call The Sacred Shadow one of your favorites.” Christine D’Clario International Worship Leader & Award-Winning Artist Author of Prodigal Heart “How does an infinite God go about communicating eternal spiritual Truth to the limited hearts and minds of the people He loves? How does a wise father teach young children his ways? In The Sacred Shadow, Courtney Cohen has put her finger on the method of God: hiding every secret and each mystery like Easter Eggs in tufts of grass – barely hidden in the shadows, where they can be found by those who seek them. Every shadow is cast by a great light shining upon a solid reality, and Cohen insightfully redirects our eyes from each shadow to the solid Truth it represents – and to the Great Light that shines behind each of them. Prepare yourself to gather treasures, because Cohen is leading us on the hunt, and there is wisdom to share for those who seek it.” Pastor Zach Neese Worship Pastor, Gateway Church Author of How to Worship a King

Now one class of such men endeavor to transfer to things incorporeal and spiritual the ideas they have formed, whether through experience of the bodily senses, or by natural human wit and diligent quickness, or by the aid of art, from things corporeal; so as to seek to measure and conceive of the former by the latter. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has grown out of a twofold concern--to follow the author's quest into the nature of the great Mystery of the universe which we call God, and to share this quest with others who are willing to search for a better approach to God than the one with which most Christian people have been indoctrinated. Kenneth J. Dale lived much of his life in a culture which was fed by two religious streams: one pantheistic (Japanese Shintoism) and the other atheistic (Buddhism). These caused the author to reflect deeply on the place of the Christians' "Heavenly Father" in such a context. Come on a journey of exploration that moves from the outer bounds of the universe to the inner recesses of the heart.

Book Discover the Mystery of Faith

Download or read book Discover the Mystery of Faith written by Glenn Packiam and published by David C Cook. This book was released on 2013-03-05 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if the way we worship isn't just an expression of our faith, but is what shapes our faith? The Church has believed this about the way we worship and pray together for centuries: The way we worship becomes the way we believe. But if this is true, it’s time to take a closer look at what we say and sing and do each week. Drawing from his own discovery of ancient worship practices, Glenn Packiam helps us understand why the Church made creedal proclamations and Psalm-praying a regular part of their worship. He shares about why the Eucharist was the climactic point of their corporate “re-telling of the salvation story.” When our worship becomes a rich feast, our faith is nourished and no longer anemic. The more our worship speaks of Christ, the more we enter into the mystery of faith.
