Download or read book Mole in a Black White Hole written by Tereza Sediva and published by National Geographic Books. This book was released on 2021-03-16 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An imaginative, charming tale about searching for beauty and light in the world around us. When Mole looks around his underground home, all he sees is the black- and-white world of his cold, dark hole. Mole digs and digs, dreaming of finding something colorful at the end of one of his tunnels, but day after day, he is disappointed. One day, as Mole continues to search, he finds a pink radish poking through the top of his tunnel like a chandelier. Delighted with the knowledge that the world isn’t just black and white, he starts to talk to his chandelier about the world above. He learns that the world is full of colors! As Mole listens to his chandelier describe life aboveground, he imagines bright clothes, red roofs, vibrant green trees, pastel flowers, and the blush of the sun as it sinks through the sky. The next morning, Mole wakes to find his chandelier is gone, leaving a hole in its place. He is so upset at first that it takes him a moment to realize how bright his home has become. Searching for his chandelier, he crawls out of his black-and-white hole into the world above and discovers a place more colorful than he ever dreamed possible. Packed with vivid colors and striking illustrations, Mole in a Black-and-White Hole tells a charming tale about what awaits us when we seek out the light in the darkness.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible says the universe is just thousands of years old, and yet we can see stars that are billions of light-years away. Until now, creation scientists have not had a satisfactory answer to this puzzle, but the new cosmology outlined in this book offers a fresh and scientifically sound solution. Though he challenges some traditional creationist theories, Dr. Humphreys takes Scripture very straightforwardly, upholding its inerrancy and the idea of a young universe as he explains days one through four of creation week.

Book White Holes

  • Author : Carlo Rovelli
  • Publisher : Penguin
  • Release : 2023-10-31
  • ISBN : 0593545443
  • Pages : 177 pages

Download or read book White Holes written by Carlo Rovelli and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2023-10-31 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A mesmerizing trip to the strange world of white holes from the bestselling author of Seven Brief Lessons on Physics and The Order of Time Let us journey, with beloved physicist Carlo Rovelli, into the heart of a black hole. We slip beyond its horizon and tumble down this crack in the universe. As we plunge, we see geometry fold. Time and space pull and stretch. And finally, at the black hole’s core, space and time dissolve, and a white hole is born. Rovelli has dedicated his career to uniting the time-warping ideas of general relativity and the perplexing uncertainties of quantum mechanics. In White Holes, he reveals the mind of a scientist at work. He traces the ongoing adventure of his own cutting-edge research, investigating whether all black holes could eventually turn into white holes, equally compact objects in which the arrow of time is reversed. Rovelli writes just as compellingly about the work of a scientist as he does the marvels of the universe. He shares the fear, uncertainty, and frequent disappointment of exploring hypotheses and unknown worlds, and the delight of chasing new ideas to unexpected conclusions. Guiding us beyond the horizon, he invites us to experience the fever and the disquiet of science—and the strange and startling life of a white hole.

Book Secrets of Black Holes

Download or read book Secrets of Black Holes written by Rajeev Raghuram and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2022-08-30 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Though discovered by scientists only a few decades ago, black holes have become a major object of public fascination and speculation. But how do black holes actually work? And how do they drive the processes we observe in the universe? Black Holes, the second book in an ongoing astronomy series by Rajeev Raghuram, gives an informed overview of black hole physics, spacetime, and the impact of this phenomenon on our universe. Written for a young adult audience, this book synthesizes the latest scientific discoveries and the equations that describe them, presenting this complex, fascinating information in highly accessible terms. Key topics include how black holes form; how they interact with one another; the methods that scientists use to study them; and the physics of spacetime that explain the structure of black holes and point to the possibility of wormholes—even other universes! Equations fundamental to understanding black holes are explained in detail, and numerous diagrams illustrate what happens inside them and how they relate to time and other universes.

Book The Large Scale Structure of Space Time

Download or read book The Large Scale Structure of Space Time written by S. W. Hawking and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1975-02-27 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Einstein's General Theory of Relativity leads to two remarkable predictions: first, that the ultimate destiny of many massive stars is to undergo gravitational collapse and to disappear from view, leaving behind a 'black hole' in space; and secondly, that there will exist singularities in space-time itself. These singularities are places where space-time begins or ends, and the presently known laws of physics break down. They will occur inside black holes, and in the past are what might be construed as the beginning of the universe. To show how these predictions arise, the authors discuss the General Theory of Relativity in the large. Starting with a precise formulation of the theory and an account of the necessary background of differential geometry, the significance of space-time curvature is discussed and the global properties of a number of exact solutions of Einstein's field equations are examined. The theory of the causal structure of a general space-time is developed, and is used to study black holes and to prove a number of theorems establishing the inevitability of singualarities under certain conditions. A discussion of the Cauchy problem for General Relativity is also included in this 1973 book.
