Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alan Sell maintains that systematic and constructive theology are best understood as the product of a conversation with the biblical writers, the heritage of Christian thought and the current intellectual environment. The conversation will benefit if the voices of hinterland writers are heard as well as those of the theological and philosophical 'giants'. In this book ten hinterland theologians associated with English Dissent are introduced and their writings are discussed. Thomas Ridgley, Abraham Taylor and Samuel Chandler wrote in the wake of the Toleration Act of 1689; George Payne and Richard Alliott responded to the Enlightenment and the Evangelical Revival; D. W. Simon, T. Vincent Tymms and Walter F. Adeney took account of modern biblical criticism, and Robert S. Franks and Charles S. Duthie respectively lived through and followed the heyday of liberal theology. The study reveals both adjustments and time-lags in theology, and shows how hinterland theologians can stimulate the ongoing conversation concerning theological method, philosophico-theological relations, the Trinity, the atonement and ecumenism.

Book The Prophecies of Daniel 2

Download or read book The Prophecies of Daniel 2 written by John S. Evans and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-05 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although Daniel 2:45 states that the great statue composed of four metals and with feet of clay reveals the future, relatively few biblical scholars have understood it as an amazingly accurate timeline that does exactly that. Liberals have been unwilling to consider that the statue's fourth kingdom is Rome. Most conservatives have recognized that it is Rome, but they have gone astray by seeking a nonexistent link between that ancient empire and the modern world. The key to understanding the statue is to recognize that it presents a prophecy that was fulfilled in the first century by the Coming of Christ, which was the historical equivalent of the rock that destroys the statue. The rock's growth into the mountain that covers all of Earth foretells a process that began in the first century and includes the thousand years of Revelation 20. This process appears to have reached a historical climax in our own time. John S. Evans is a retired professor of economics and international finance who taught at the University of Alabama from 1968 until 2000 after beginning his teaching career in 1959 at the University of South Dakota. His professional accomplishments included a year in Mexico as a Fulbright Lecturer and the writing of a textbook on international financial management. Since 1996, when he went into partial retirement, his primary intellectual activity has consisted of the intensive study of the Bible, with emphasis on the Book of Daniel. In 2004, he published with Xulon Press The Four Kingdoms of Daniel: A Defense of the "Roman" Sequence with AD 70 Fulfillment. The present book expands on parts of The Four Kingdoms and offers much new material. Evans has authored over thirty articles that have been posted at planetpreterist.com and has been a frequent guest on John Anderson's "Voice of Reason."

Book excerpt: Daniel Revisited makes the case that the ancient book of Daniel reveals four specific events to occur in the Middle East in the end times prior to the Tribulation. This new look at old assumptions about prophecy and plain reading of Scripture combines a comprehensive study of relevant history with the fresh perspective of today’s current events. Not only does it show that the Antichrist will be Muslim, it also identifies four events the author calls Signposts which will occur in a series leading right up to the Tribulation. The first event involving Iraq has already occurred. The second of the four events will be the invasion of the whole Middle East by Iran. The fourth event will witness the Antichrist's emergence.

Reviews: "This classic interpretation of the book of Daniel, dealing with the prophecy of the ninth chapter in particular, has long been considered a standard volume in the field, often quoted, and original in its fresh exposition of Daniel's seventy weeks.... This book belongs on the shelf of every pastor and layman intelligent in the study of the prophetic Word." (Dr. John F. Walvoord) "This is the ablest explanation of Daniel's seventy weeks and related subjects in existence." Dr. Frederick A. Tatford "This book contains so many hidden gems, it should be read slowly to mine all it value. "(Michael D. Book DANIEL Touchstone of Prophecy

Download or read book DANIEL Touchstone of Prophecy written by Kent Stevens and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2008-07-31 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scholars agree Daniel's prophecies detail history up to 164 B.C., then opinions split. But why not continue following the trail of history? What if we could prove his prophecies are already fulfilled? This verse by verse pursuit takes us a little outside popular explanations, and turns up some surprising answers.Discover: how the Little Horn of the dragon has been in plain sight of history all along; why one prophecy is divided into "weeks"; who is the real prince to come, and who is the true Covenant Maker; that the 2300 evenings and mornings are not mere days on a calendar; how the 1290 and 1335 day prophecy bring us to an oft neglected turning point in Jewish history.Determined to let Scripture speak for itself, Kent Stevens attempts to support every verse with well-known details from history. Even if you end in disagreeing with the author's compelling arguments, we hope you will conclude with him that Daniel is truly a unique touchstone that challenges and tests the way we view prophecy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever wondered how the book of Daniel in the Old Testament could be put into a comprehensive interpretation of future prophecies with the Book of Revelation in the New Testament? This book does that for young people and adults. It proves the rapture of the church is before the traditional Great Tribulation. Get answers to questions such as: • How can we distinguish God’s anger, judgments, and wrath from each other? • Who does God punish and why? • How do the seven seals of Revelation lead up to the rapture of the church? The events in Revelation are lined up on a timeline to show the timing of each event. Readers will learn where the Antichrist gets his power and why we may be witnessing the last gentile government. While we cannot claim to know all prophecies, we can know that God has everything under control. He will fulfill His plan regardless of what we may think will happen. There is perfect peace in knowing this fact.
