Book excerpt: During times of struggle individuals often ask, why? Expecting a response, people turn to God for answers, as they have for eons. Then as the situation unfolds God's presence or lack of it is felt. What is the connection? What is God's role in Man's interactions? Both religious zealots and skeptics use faith to explain social discourse but Man's interactions are based upon a science that was started 13-14 billion years ago. The science has evolved as Man has evolved and explains Man's place in the cosmos. The secret to the meaning of life is found in the most complex instrument ever constructed, the brain. This book attempts to bring science and religion closer, giving credence to the believer and cynic. God created the universe and all things in it, including Man. Man continues to evolve trying to rejoin with God. However, this goal of unification creates strife within the primitive and cognitive being, producing emotions. Man must learn to use his brain to overcome all obstacles, including unification with God. Harmony is synchronization, the act of working together, between men and within the man. Humans will change the world by being good, which is learning to perform constructive interference. We must then teach this simple yet difficult concept to our children while simultaneously inspiring other adults to do the same. Goodness can instantly triumph over evil. Demonstrating to evil it's own sins and the goodness in the one it wants to hurt may be necessary in the interaction however, the foremost and most difficult duty is to reveal the deep family connection between the two. Harmony explains what exploded in the Big Bang, what gave rise to gravity, the development of evolution and the birth of Man. It explains when the fetus acquires the soul and thus when life starts. The brain and mind constantly wrestle for harmonious existence the result of which is crime, terrorism and power. These can be explained and the result is not just knowledge but unification. Mans life is complex; it is not only based upon beliefs but upon facts. Not only does this book make an effort to justify the above it also attempts to give light to time-travel, give reasons for cancer and clarity to thought. This treatise lays a foundation for education and social harmony through the relationship that is the unique human nervous system. LIFE'S MEANING: THE UNIFICATION OF GOD, MATTER, MAN, MIND, AND SOCIETY A Treatise on the Science of Religion

Book God and Science in Unification Thought

Download or read book God and Science in Unification Thought written by Richard L. Lewis and published by . This book was released on 2022-09-21 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to discourage the view that science and religion are dealing with disjoint realities. To show, to the contrary, that they are often dealing with the same aspects of reality but using very different terms and descriptions. Religion and science have been the methods of searching for the two aspects of truth, in order to overcome the two aspects of ignorance and restore the two aspects of knowledge. The day must come when religion and science advance in one united way... Then, mutual understanding will occur between the two aspects of truth, the internal and the external. Such a merging was impossible to imagine even a century ago when religion had a six-day-old universe that science considered an eternal steady state. Things have radically changed, however, with the emergence of sophisticated religious thought and the scientific revolution exemplified by quantum mechanics and cosmology. These two sophisticated streams of thought are not hostile. The aim of this book is to explore areas of thought where this convergence of disciplines is apparent, and a final illustration of how the two working together can have constructive dialog.

In the post-Saddam years, he has held important government positions and participated in crucial national decisions and events. In this book, the former Minister of Defence and Finance draws on his unique personal experience, extensive relationships with members of the main political groups and parties in Iraq, and deep understanding of the history and society of his country to answer the baffling questions that persist about its current crises. What really led the United States to invade Iraq, and why have events failed to unfold as planned? The Occupation of Iraq examines what the U.S. did and didn't know at the time of the invasion, the reasons for the confused and contradictory policies that were enacted, and the emergence of the Iraqi political class during the difficult transition process. The book tracks the growth of the insurgency and illuminates the complex relationships among Sunnis, Shia, and Kurds. Bringing the discussion forward to the reconfiguration of political forces in 2006, Allawi provides in these pages the clearest view to date of the modern history of Iraq and the invasion that changed its course in unpredicted ways.

Download or read book The Unification Church written by Massimo Introvigne and published by Studies in Contemporary Religi. This book was released on 2000 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unificationists believe in "reconciling the internal truth pursued by religion with the external truth pursued by science." They promote anti-Communism, family values, and the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Hebrew prophets. Where they depart from traditional Christianity is in their acceptance of the Divine Principle as a companion to the Bible and in their assertion that founder Rev. Sun Myung Moon is Lord of the Second Advent, that with his wife (together the "True Parents"), Original Sin is conquered through special blessings. Since 1954 Unificationism has evolved toward a more normative approach to worship and lifestyle, if not belief--a point that Italian scholar Massimo Introvigne emphasizes in his balanced overview of the church's history, doctrine, spirituality, missionary activities, and controversies. He notes that in doctrine Unificationism has moved away from mainstream churches toward increased emphasis on contact with the spirit world, numerology, and construction of a modern "Garden of Eden" in Brazil.

Download or read book God and Natural Order written by Shaun C. Henson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-12-04 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In God and Natural Order: Physics, Philosophy, and Theology, Shaun Henson brings a theological approach to bear on contemporary scientific and philosophical debates on the ordered or disordered nature of the universe. Henson engages arguments for a unified theory of the laws of nature, a concept with monotheistic metaphysical and theological leanings, alongside the pluralistic viewpoints set out by Nancy Cartwright and other philosophers of science, who contend that the nature of physical reality is intrinsically complex and irreducible to a single unifying theory. Drawing on the work of theologian Wolfhart Pannenberg and his conception of the Trinitarian Christian god, the author argues that a theological line of inquiry can provide a useful framework for examining controversies in physics and the philosophy of science. God and Natural Order will raise provocative questions for theologians, Pannenberg scholars, and researchers working in the intersection of science and religion.

Book Toward a Theology of Scientific Endeavour

Download or read book Toward a Theology of Scientific Endeavour written by Christopher B. Kaiser and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-02-27 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foundations of science are specific conditions of the cosmos, of human intelligence, of cultural beliefs, and of technological structures that make the pursuit of modern science possible. Each of the four foundations of scientific endeavour can be studied as a topic on its own. The concurrent study of all four together reveals several tensions and interconnections among them that point the way to a greater unification of faith and science. This book explores four foundations of scientific endeavour and investigates some of the paradoxes each of them raises. Kaiser shows that the resolution of these paradoxes inevitably leads us into theological discourse and raises new challenges for theological endeavour. In order to address these challenges, Kaiser draws on the wider resources of the Judeo-Christian tradition and argues for a refocusing of contemporary theology from the perspective of natural science.

Book excerpt: By the twentieth century, science had become so important that religious traditions had to respond to it. Emerging religions, still led by a living founder to guide them, responded with a clarity and focus that illuminates other larger, more established religions’ understandings of science. The Hare Krishnas, the Unification Church, and Heaven’s Gate each found distinct ways to incorporate major findings of modern American science, understanding it as central to their wider theological and social agendas. In tracing the development of these new religious movements’ viewpoints on science during each movement’s founding period, we can discern how their views on science were crafted over time. These NRMs shed light on how religious groups—new, old, alternative, or mainstream—could respond to the tremendous growth of power and prestige of science in late twentieth-century America. In this engrossing book, Zeller carefully shows that religious groups had several methods of creatively responding to science, and that the often-assumed conflict-based model of “science vs. religion” must be replaced by a more nuanced understanding of how religions operate in our modern scientific world.

Book Faithful to Science

Download or read book Faithful to Science written by Andrew M. Steane and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2014 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Science and religious faith are two of the most important and influential forces in human life, yet there is widespread confusion about how, or indeed whether, they link together. This book describes this combination from the perspective of one who finds that they link together productively and creatively. The situation is not one of conflict or uneasy tension, or even a respectful dialogue. Rather, a lively and well-founded faith in God embraces and includes science, and scientific ways of thinking, in their proper role. Science is an activity right in the bloodstream of a reasonable faith. The book interprets theism broadly, and engages carefully with atheism, while coming from a Christian perspective. The aim is to show what science is, and what it is not, and at the same time give some pointers to what theism is or can be. Philosophy, evolution and the nature of science and human life are discussed in the first part of the book, questions of origins in the second. It is the very mind-set of scientific thinking that is widely supposed to be antagonistic to religious faith. But such suspicions are too sweeping. They misunderstand both faith and science. Faith can be creative and intellectually courageous; science is not the all-embracing story that it is sometimes made out to be. It is not that science fails to explain some things, but rather, it does not explain anything at all, on its own. It is part of a larger explanation. And even explanation has to take a humble place; it is not the purpose of life.

Book Atomic Unification

Book excerpt: As the Texas frontier advanced, the Bell and Callaway families moved with it. The Civil War had reduced the Bells to poverty, but they managed to 'hold their heads up.' Encouraged by her genteel father, Lela rebels against Victorian customs and, to the despair of her mother, she becomes a suffragette. Then, to the consternation of her father, Lela becomes a Prohibitionist. She turns up her pretty little nose at her many suitors until she is finally, to the embarrassment of her family, an 'Old Maid!' Joe Callaway, the spoiled, precocious youngest son in a large wealthy family, agnostic from childhood, walks away from the Christian college his newly converted father built for him. After he survives three serious accidents, two of which should have killed him, Doctors tell Joe that he has, at most, only a couple of years to live. His father gives him his inheritance. Joe quickly squanders it. Looking for employment, Joe meets Lela one afternoon, takes her to a concert that evening, and afterward, asks her to marry him. However, financial circumstances do not permit their marriage for a year in which they are parted by many miles, each writing a letter every day. Champion parents, they and their two children have a marvelous time during the roaring twenties - Joe builds homes, Lela decorates them, they live in a house until the next one is finished; then they sell for a neat profit and move into the new house! The '29 Crash hits Plainview early and hard, and the Depression is a time of bare existence for Lela and Joe and their children. For a time they are homeless. But, 'keeping their heads up,' they manage to survive, barely. Then, by Joe's ingenuity, they move to Albuquerque and are among the first to come out of that horrible time. Lela remains a staunch Christian, Joe a studious agnostic. What will the children choose?
