Download or read book Mommy Burnout written by Dr. Sheryl G. Ziegler and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2018-02-20 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ultimate must-read handbook for the modern mother: a practical, and positive tool to help free women from the debilitating notion of being the "perfect mom," filled with funny and all too relatable true-life stories and realistic suggestions to stop the burnout cycle, and protect our kids from the damage burnout can cause. Moms, do you feel tired? Overwhelmed? Have you continually put off the things you need to do for you? Do you feel like it’s all worth it because your kids are happy? Are you "over" being a mother? If you answered yes to these questions, you’re not alone. Parents today want to create the ideal childhood for their children. Women strive to be the picture-perfect Pinterest mother that looks amazing, hosts the best birthday parties in town, posts the most "liked" photos, and serves delicious, nutritious home-cooked meals in her neat, organized home after ferrying the kids to school and a host of extracurricular activities on time. This drive, while noble, can also be destructive, causing stress and anxiety that leads to "mommy burnout." Psychologist and family counselor Dr. Sheryl Ziegler is well-versed in the stress that moms face, and the burden of guilt they carry because they often feel like they aren’t doing enough for their kids’ happiness. A mother of three herself, Dr. Z—as she’s affectionately known by her many patients—recognizes and understands that modern moms are all too often plagued by exhaustion, failure, isolation, self-doubt, and a general lack of self-love, and their families are also feeling the effects, too. Over the last nineteen years working with families and children, Dr. Z has devised a prescriptive program for addressing "mommy burnout"—teaching moms that they can learn to re-energize themselves and still feel good about their families and their lives. In this warm and empathetic guide, she examines this modern epidemic among mothers who put their children’s happiness above their own, and offers empowering, proven solutions for alleviating this condition, saving marriages and keeping kids happy in the process.

Book excerpt: Want to know the secret to being Super-Mom? Then put your feet up, and read on... A staggering 78% of moms put off taking care of their own health in order to care for their family. It's easy to hear the term 'self-care' and think that it sounds like an indulgence, or something you simply don't have time for. If you have a house full of little ones to look after, putting them first is the #1 priority. You have to make sure they're fed, washed and dressed; you're endlessly running them to this activity or that one; you're picking up toys 24/7; and the laundry pile seems to grow every time you look away. Where's the time for you? If that sounds familiar, consider the expression, "You can't pour from an empty cup." You can only give what you have. If you're running on empty, you don't have the resources you need to be the best mom you can be -- and what's more, your health and happiness are going to take a big knock. Taking time out for self-care is correlated with better mental health, better physical health and improved relationships. The bottom line is this: if you're going to be a better mom, a happier person, and a more fulfilled version of yourself, you have to take the time for self-care. In fact, putting self-care at the top of your priority list is putting your children first. When your tank is full, you have energy. You have enthusiasm. You have everything to give. And your children are only going to benefit from that. In How to Make Time for Me, you'll be given all the strategies and knowledge you need to carve out time for yourself to recharge and recuperate. You'll discover: The 5 key areas of self-care you should never neglect Research-backed reasons you should never feel guilty about needing a little 'me time' A bullet-proof guide to assessing your personal self-care needs Practical solo self-care ideas (and self-care tricks for when you need to involve the kids) How to model self-care to your children (and why you should) Sneaky strategies for carving out 5 minutes of time for yourself The self-care you can sneak in without needing to change a single thing The real reason Victoria Beckham still looks amazing 4 kids later A whole chapter bursting at the seams with 5-minute self-care inspiration The key questions to ask yourself to ensure self-care success Quick practical exercises to help you get started right away And much more. If you've ever thought you don't have time for self-care, think again. The only way to gain time is to make time -- and it's easier than you think. When you recognize the whole-family impact of putting yourself first from time to time, you'll soon realize that self-care isn't a luxury: it's a necessity. And if you get the whole family on board, you're guaranteed to cultivate a happier, healthier household. Download or read book Here Comes Ingo written by Odeta Xheka and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2019-01-12 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here Comes Ingo is the story of Ingo, a scarlet macaw who while nursing her eggs in the hole of a dead canopy tree drifts off to sleep and dreams of flying about into the lush evergreen forest she calls home. Ingo's dream is a beautiful visual story that exemplifies a progression of thinking leading towards love, kindness and inclusion because the world needs more empathetic, understanding and tolerant children. At first, things may not seem to make much sense. After all, it is not every day that 4-8 year olds get to come face to face with a shark eating cupcakes with gusto or a merry band of birds& frogs piggybacking on a chubby fish or even a solitary wolf improbably wrapped in a rainbow. Yet, page after page of exquisitely crafted compositions encourage children to resist feeling discouraged or scared in front of the unexpected and the unknown. Much like Ingo, they are to rely on their own ability to embrace what at first may seem strange in order to fully enjoy the book. Equally importantly, Ingo's flying adventures invite children to put their thinking hats on and figure out what the characters are thinking, feeling and doing thus teaching them about setting, structure flow and attention to detail. As with the best of books, at the conclusion of the story, the journey is not over. Ingo invites children to visit again and again in order to expand on Ingo's dream world following into the tradition of classic books such as Good Night, Gorilla, The Adventures of Polo, Tuesday, Where's Walrus, Sea of Dreams and The Red Book.

Book A Moment for Mom

Download or read book A Moment for Mom written by Alice Langholt and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-01-07 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You will need 30 seconds. That's all. Use in order, or turn to a random page. Each page has a title, a benefit, and simple directions. Read it and do exactly what it says. Or, if you know that you are in the mood for a creative, emotionally uplifting, physical, or spiritually-oriented task, use the Index at the back of the book to choose one that fits your interest. Notice the benefits you experience because you took that 30 seconds just for you. Yes, you deserve it. And yes, there is more to life than just being that caregiver, and maybe also partner, business owner, student, staff member, woman, sister, and friend...all of the roles we play. Because, no matter what, if we are not feeling worthy, balanced, and okay, we really can't manage any of our other roles well, can we? So, take that 30 seconds. And use it for YOU. The benefits will last far longer than 30 seconds. They might just become a wonderful little daily ritual. But, start with 30 seconds. Enjoy. This is your time. By the way, the writing tasks have a blank page beside them for jotting your notes. So, all you need for those is a pen. If there isn't a pen nearby, use a pencil. Or, a broken crayon. We moms have lots of those around. Or, use a partially dried-up marker, eyebrow pencil, or lip liner if that's what's handy. It's ok - write in the book. Later, reading what you wrote will be part of your reflective process, showing you how you've grown. Feel good about this 30 second you-time. It's an accomplishment for busy moms to take even that much for yourself. You'll find yourself becoming more present, more patient, more loving, and happier if you do this regularly. People might even notice, and comment about the positive changes in you. But it isn't about what they think. It's about how you feel. Basically, we're frazzled people who are loaded down with an unreasonable amount of responsibility for raising little beings to hopefully be kind and productive members of society without too much emotional baggage, while maintaining the house, our work, the kids' extracurricular and social plans, and also being a present, loving, and emotionally supportive partner, who's able to maintain friendships and relate to our parents, sisters, and anyone else who is vying for our attention. Take a 30 second Moment for Mom. It's your turn.
