It seems proper, therefore, to offer to the profession a thorough revision of this text-book. Some of the chapters have been rewritten, others have been thoroughly revised. A number of the illustrations that appeared in the first edition have been replaced by others of greater artistic excellence, and several additional illustrations have been added. It will be noticed that Dr. J. Clarence Webster has been added to the list of contributors; while it is with deep regret that the editor recalls the death of Doctors Theophilus Parvin, James H.
