Book Demineralization by Ion Exchange

Download or read book Demineralization by Ion Exchange written by Samuel B. Applebaum and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Demineralization by Ion Exchange: In Water Treatment and Chemical Processing of Other Liquids presents the methods of demineralization by ion exchange to completely remove dissolved impurities from water and other liquids. This book discusses the developments as well as the engineering and practical aspects in demineralization. Organized into 14 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the history of ion exchange. This text then provides data on the demineralizer equipment, specifying proper materials of construction and design of the shells, their internal distributors, piping, and valves. Other chapters consider the method and equipment design that will help solve water treatment or chemical processing problem with the greatest reliability and economy. This book discusses as well the technical calculations showing how the demineralizer systems are selected. The final chapter deals with the designs of many actual full-scale plants. This book is a valuable resource for executives, consultants, engineers, engineering students, and chemists.

Book Fundamentals and Applications of Ion Exchange

Download or read book Fundamentals and Applications of Ion Exchange written by L. Liberti and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Ion exchange", as Dr. Robert Kunin has said, "is a unique technology since ft occupies a special place in at least three other scientific disciplines - polymer chemistry, polyelectrolytes and adsorption. " It may also lay claim to being one of the most widely used industrially. From its origins in water treatment and the sugar industry, through hydrometallurgical applications as diverse as the treatment of plating wastes and the tonnage production of uranium, to the present-day production of ultrapure water for the microelectronics industry, the recovery of valuable materials from sewage effluents and pollution control, the uses of ion exchange are legion. As a result, it is well-nigh impossible to prevent infiltration by the real world of even the most academic of conferences on the subject. It came as no surprise to the Scientific Board of the NATO Advanced Study Institute on "Mass Transfer & Kinetics of Ion Exchange" that one third of the lecturers, and one half of their advanced students, were from Industry, nor that the two round-table discussions, which specially featured industrial applications and future requirements, were well attended and enthusiastically debated.

Book Wastewater Demineralization by Ion Exchange

Download or read book Wastewater Demineralization by Ion Exchange written by Ed Kreusch and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The feasibility of wastewater demineralization by ion exchange procedures was successfully demonstrated by pilot plant studies conducted on sewage effluent from an activated sludge treatment plant. A pretreatment unit consisting of lime clarification, dual media filtration, and granular activated carbon filtration was operated in series with the ion exchange system. Phosphate reductions were achieved by lime clarification at pH 10.0, but identical reductions were achieved by ion exchange alone. In addition ion exchange treatment without lime was cheaper. Ion exchange processes using strong acid cation exchange resin and weak base anion exchange resin can be readily applied to wastewater demineralization. Design of treatment plants for such a process applied to wastewater containing as much as 500 mg/l of ionizable solids can use established design parameters. Disposal of sludges and saline liquids must be considered.

Book Ion Exchange Pollution Control

Download or read book Ion Exchange Pollution Control written by C. Calmon and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of these volumes is not to cover all phases of ion-exchange theory, which may be found in general texts, nor to cover every application in the literature, or to show an engineer ways on how to become an expert in the field so he coulddo it all by himself. The main purpose of these books is to show the practical engineer what has been done in various types of applications of ion-exchange processes in pollution control, how to set up laboratory tests, the problems that may be encountered to identify the individuals and organizations who are experts in the various phases of ion exchange, and most importantly, to emphasize the new developments in the polymers with active sites that offer new approaches to wastewater treatment methods.
