When she receives an invitation to a prestigious charity ball, she knows it must be a mistake—one she plans to take advantage of. The temptation is too great to pass up. Yet, when she crosses paths with a man so virile that everything in her screams for her to run, that’s what she does. The last thing Dempsey Toutant expects is to run into his human mate in the middle of a nasty fight with her husband. While everything in him urges him to toss Mahalia over his shoulder, carry her off and claim her as his, he knows the timing isn’t right. A year later, he gets his chance. But when she decides to run away from him, he does the only thing a wolf shifter knows how to do when it comes to his mate—give chase.

Book The Life of Sir William Osler

Download or read book The Life of Sir William Osler written by Harvey Cushing and published by SEVERUS Verlag. This book was released on 2010 with total page 701 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: William Osler (1849-1919) is widely regarded as one of the most influential physicians of the late 19th and early 20th century and a key figure in the history of medicine. Besides his research activities and his dedicated scientific work, Osler's greatest contribution to the medical world has been the system of residency which he developed at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, thus introducing a new and deeply humanistic approach to the strictly scientific realm of traditional medicine. Harvey Cushing (1869-1939), a former student and close friend of Osler's and a pioneer of neurosurgery, has himself become an icon of modern medicine. He was one of the first physicians to use x-rays for diagnosing brain tumours, he developed revolutionary methods of blood pressure measurement, and he discovered Cushing's syndrome, the first autoimmune disease identified in a human being. This monumental biography earned him the Pulitzer Prize in 1926.

Book The Concept of Neutrality in Stalin s Foreign Policy 1945 1953

Download or read book The Concept of Neutrality in Stalin s Foreign Policy 1945 1953 written by Peter Ruggenthaler and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2015-07-02 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on recently declassified Soviet archival sources, this book sheds new light on how the division of Europe came about in the aftermath of World War II. The book contravenes the notion that a neutral zone of states, including Germany, could have been set up between East and West. The Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin was determined to preserve control over its own sphere of German territory. By tracing Stalin's attitude toward neutrality in international politics, the book provides important insights into the origins of the Cold War.

Book What is Philosophy of Mind

Download or read book What is Philosophy of Mind written by Tom McClelland and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We all have minds, but what exactly is a mind? Is your mind the same thing as your brain? How does what’s happening in your mind cause your behaviour? Can you know what’s going on in other people’s minds? Can you even be sure what’s going on in your own? Are babies conscious? How about cats? Or self-driving cars? Philosophy of mind grapples with questions like these, exploring who we are and how we fit into the world. In this student-friendly guide, McClelland introduces the key ideas in philosophy of mind, showing why they matter and how philosophers have tried to answer them. He covers the major historical moments in philosophy of mind, from Descartes and his troubles with immaterial souls up to today’s ‘consciousness wars’. Additionally, he examines the implications that philosophy of mind has for psychology, artificial intelligence and even particle physics. McClelland lays out the centuries-long dialogue between philosophy and science, presenting a uniquely grounded, practical picture of the field for students. Rich with real-world examples and written for the absolute beginner, What is Philosophy of Mind? gives students the tools to delve deeper into this dynamic field of philosophy.
